The o7 Show: Changes, New Stuff and Pew Pew

April 1, 2015

A new episode of the o7 show was aired tonight on the CCP twitch channel at 2000 EvE time.

The main points of the show can be found below.

April release information from CCP Fozzie;

The new ship skins are now live on Sisi for all to experiment with. These will go live in the April release on tranquility and will use the new system of linking to your profile and being appliable to your ship through the fitting window, rather than by having to use blueprints.

CCP will be reducing the cargo capacity required for moving and I-Hub and I-Hub upgrades. They will also be making it possible to manufacture I-HUB upgrades. You can find a forum thread from CCP Fozzie about this here.

CCP will be making changes to null-sec mining to make it more profitable. All minerals will now be available in null-sec and CCP Fozzie has been hard at work looking over spreadsheets to try and match the Ratio’s of the revised ores to the ratios of what has been historically used by people building in Null. CCP announced that the will not be releasing new ores to do this but will be updating existing ores with new compositions.

CCP Fozzie also announced that they will be doubling the usage of Megacyte and Zydrine in almost all blueprints that use those minerals. Exact details will be released in a dev blog after the Easter period.

The UI for managing roles within a corp has been having a revamp by Team Five-O. These changes are live on SISI and here are a couple of images;

The Entosis module (part of the new ‘Fozzie-sov’ mechanics coming in June) is to be released on tranquility ready for people to stockpile. It will also have certain uses from the April release but what these will be have not been released. It has also been revealed that the Entosis module will require fuel to be used, most likely strontium, meaning that being able to resupply your forces with strontium will add a new layer to the ‘Fozzie=Sov’ mechanics. The Entosis module will also increase the mass of the ship and should help slow down smaller ships using the module while having less of an impact on large ships. The fitting of the Entosis module was also discussed, making it clear that the T1 version will be able to be fitted on a frigate while the T2 version will severely hamper a frigate that tries to use it.

CCP announced that their will be two new burner missions which will allow access to ships up to and including T2 cruisers and will include more variations for those who run them. Of the new group of mission that CCP hinted at it was announced on the show that they would release the Serpentis and Blood Raiders missions in the next release.

Some big balance changes;

CSM9 member Gorski Carr has been instrumental in getting CCP to look at the relationship between warp speed and the different classes. This has led to CCP announcing warp speed changes for Battle Cruisers and Command ships. They announced that the Battle-cruiser will have a warp speed 2.7 au/s and Command Ships will be increased to 3 au/s.

CCP will also be making changes to the warp speed rigs, getting rid of the CPU penalty and adding a less harsh signature radius increase penalty instead.

According to CCP the Confessor and Svipul are going to get a nerf this release with both ships having to much PG and making them very easy to fit things like oversized prop modules while still having a good tank and DPS. This is not what CCP wanted so they will both be losing power-grid to make fitting them more of a choice. CCP also announced that they will be ‘shaving some other stats’ which will include re-balancing their base speed and ability. In addition to these changes there will be an increase to the build materials of the ships by around 50% which will likely increase the respective prices. CCP hinted that more changes may come to this class of ship in the future, depending on how they perform after these changes in the April patch.

CCP is removing the ability to ‘garage door cyno’, the practice of lighting a cyno at a POS with no shield, jumping in your capital assets and then on-lining the POS force field. From the April patch you will not be able to light a cyno where the shield WOULD be if it was on-lined.

Celebrity Shoot-out

Jayne Fillon, member of Sanctuary of Shadows and newly elected CSM 10 member Vs Gorski Car from Verge of Collapse corporation AQUILA INC and  CSM 9 incumbent.

Both had 120 seconds to chose and fit, from a small pool of items, a Combat Recon cruiser and then undock.

Both of the competitors chose to fly the Curse, as it has the best all round stats, and proceeded to fit the ship.

Jayne went for a shield tanked, MWD fit with three Nosferatu and two lasers, of which only one was onlined and he also took a full flight of berserker heavy T1 drones with an almost full low rack of drones damage amplifiers.

Gorski Car also opted for the shield tank and MWD but fitted a couple of tracking disruptors instead of sensor boosters which Jayne fitted. In the highs he went for two neutrilizers and three rapid light missile launchers with infiltrator T1 drones.

Both of the competitors had a fully fitted ship when it was time to undock, with rigs, highs, mids, lows, ammo and drones. However when it came to the fight it was a completely one sided affair with Gorski taking control and staying in control throughout the fight, only losing around 20% shield, while Jayne was destroyed and so lost the 2nd Celebrity shoot-out.
