ExtraEve Events – Dev Run Gatherings for Fanfest

February 4, 2015

Fanfest itself is a big event for the Eve community and in addition to the packed event line up that we usually expect; including Charity dinners, the infamous Developer Pub Crawl and Golden Circle Tours which all make up part of the official line up, it also appears that a few of the Developers are taking the opportunity to run some additional events outside the normal setup.

CCP Puck has taken it upon himself, with a few other devs, to organise a Developer Vs Player football (that’s Soccer, not Hand Egg)  game. CCP Puck writes on his thread:

Hey, guys!

The event is now confirmed! On March 17th, two days before Fanfest starts, players will face off against devs in an epic soccer match. The arena has been booked from 8pm to 10pm, which should be plenty for a 90 minute game. The arena is a state of the art indoor AstroTurf pitch. Normal grass shoes work best.

At this time the amount of interest, and the amount of devs participating, leads us to believe that full size, 11 versus 11, would be the best. We can, however, always adapt and bring the goals in if needed.

Please consider the following thread to be the official signup process for this event:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5448192#post5448192

Please direct whoever you think may be interested to that thread. Help filling the roster is most appreciated.

Note that there are no real fitness requirements, but please be ready for an intense workout. Also make sure to bring whatever gear you need with you, and cleats(studded soccer shoes) are recommended. However, METAL STUDS are NOT allowed.

Buses will leave from the CCP Headquarters no later than 7pm, so please make sure to be there in a timely fashion. You can be let into the office reception if you show up early. The office location can be found on this wonderful map prepared by CCP Explorer:

See you there!

This is a unique opportunity where Developers and Players will be able to play at Reykjavik’s main Football Stadium on a FIFA approved pitch, something many Football fans rarely get the opportunity to try. If you want to be part of this event, you will need to be quick however as once the squad is full there won’t be any more spaces!

The second event being organised by CCP Karkur is a Snowboarding/Skiing Trip. In her thread she writes:

Hey all,

In 2013, a few of us CCPers and players went together on a small ski trip at the local ski area. We had a blast even though the weather was not kind to us. We want to do this again, and wanted to check the interest.

We’d just keep the same format as in 2013, keep it unofficial and basically just a group of people going skiing/snowboarding together and having a good time.

Most of what I wrote in the 2013 thread still applies, although the dates are different, and the prices for pass and rental are 200ISK higher.
This point still very much applies: “The ski area is often closed due to wind, so we always just hope for the best, don’t get too disappointed if it will be closed”

The idea is to leave Reykjavík around 1pm and arrive at the ski area about the time it opens (2pm) but I’m not sure which date works better, Tuesday (17th) or Wednesday (18th)… people could also arrive later if they can’t make it that early.

If you are interested in joining, please reply and say which date would suit you better, keeping in mind the player vs dev soccer match is on the 17th at 8pm and the Golden Circle tour will be on the 18th (as far as I know).
We’ll probably not be able to pick at that works for everyone, but having this info will at least help us make a somewhat informed decision Smile

(we should be able to make it back in time for the soccer match if we were to pick Tuesday, but would maybe be a bit tired during the game)

I’ll update this post when we have more details decided Smile

Again this is another opportunity to be involved in an extraeve event at this year’s fanfest, if you’re interested you should definitely look up these forum posts.

But what if football and skiing aren’t your thing? Reykjavik is well known for being a party town so there are plenty of other events around the town both official and unofficial. Maybe you don’t even want to be in part of an event, but just want to chill out with your alliance mates and enemies at the local bars, or have an evening dining in one of the many restaurants? If that’s the case CCP Explorer has very thoughtfully set up a google map showing all the local hang outs, places to eat and other things found around the City.
