Disavowed.: Outnumbered, But Not Outgunned

December 2, 2014

Wormhole ganks are nothing new in the reaches of W-Space. Infamous groups like Blood Union. and Hard Knocks Inc., Sleeper Social Club, and others have rolled through wormholes like raiders, catching and butchering unfriendly capitals caught in the sites within. Many have come to accept this sort of lifestyle as part of the nature of wormhole space; run caps in your sites and get ganked eventually, and return the favor to your enemies in their own homes when you get the chance.

The early evening hours of November 29th were no different; Team Pizza of Disavowed. alliance, one of the big names of W-Space, were rolling through their static connections that evening, searching and hunting for targets, when they entered into a massive 100AU wide system. The scout dropped combat probes searching for targets, and found a collection of blips at a combat site. Capitals, and more than a few of them. Quickly, the scout scanned them down and discovered them quite far away from a moon or a planet meaning only one thing; they were out running sites, and a trap could be easily sprung.

Disavowed. rushed to form up a fleet, bringing a single triage Archon to hold up their subcaps while initially opting for zero Guardians. They collected two of their dreadnaughts and waited on the wormhole. The fleet commander of Disavowed. checked their fleet comp one last time before ordering a jump into the wormhole; the Disavowed. forces jumped with the Archon and a single Naglfar in tow with the second dreadnaught, a Moros, staying behind as reinforcements.

Upon landing on the W-Space Squad fleet who are part of the SHKID Republic alliance, the subcaps and the Naglfar worked at destroying the first Archon, quickly removing it and starting to work on the dreads which were all sieged and stuck inside of the site, unable to warp out. The Archon that was initially brought in by Disavowed. was subsequently removed from field under withering fire power from the hostile dreads, who had switched to it and burned it down extremely quickly. The Disavowed fleet who by this time were panicking a little, continued working on hostile ships before warping off of grid, sustaining several subcap losses in the process. The Naglfar meanwhile, quickly blapped a second triage Archon that landed on field before going toe to toe with five hostile dreads whilst also under attack from the Sleepers.

Disavowed. regrouped their subcap fleet, reshipping people into spare ships and collected two Guardians to join their fleet before getting the second dreadnaught to come through the wormhole which then promptly collapsed behind them. The Disavowed fleet. which was now refreshed and re-armed, dived back into the combat site with the trapped capitals and began to finish them off, killing the last four dreadnaughts, looting, and subsequently extracting home through a different wormhole.

All in all, Team Pizza lost 15 billion ISK in the attack, including a dreadnaught and carrier, whilst destroying 35 billion ISK of W-Space Squad assets which included all five of their dreadnaughts and two carriers, making this a costly loss for the defenders.
