So Long SCUM. Alliance

November 26, 2014

A long-lived low sec alliance decided to close its doors this week. On the 19th of November 2014, an EvE mail went out from the leadership of SCUM. alliance to say that they were officially disbanding and that the CEO, ZAKARIUS was leaving EvE permanently. Ministry of Destruction, the sole corporation remaining in the SCUM. alliance, has also gone dark.

[16:22:08] ZAKARIUS > guys i will send mail out soon but just giving u a heads up that scum is disbanding and mod also and im leaving game

ZAKARIUS’ biography now reads;

MOD = CLOSED

SCUM = CLOSED

ZAK = LEFT THE GAME

Many thanks to all those ive had the pleasure of flying with over the last 10 years, with the exception of a few.

*For the record*

Have i rage quit?

Nah, i was stabbed in the back and those who i thought were friends, were infact turncoats. I guess we all come across them in rl and so Eve is the same, only difference being they can grow yellowbellys and hide behind their keyboards, rather than look me in the eyes.

I can walk away from Eve with my head held high knowing what i have achieved.

Thankyou for the memories.

SCUM. was founded in February 2009 and has had a long and colourful history in EvE Online. They rose to be one of the preeminent gate camping groups in low sec and fell to the tune of three lost titans in one year, although they were out-of-alliance alts.

However, it is not all bad news as the corporations from SCUM. have banded together to create a new alliance called Acta. Non Verba. I managed to sit down with Tankos Aphelion, who was a director in SCUM. and is now the CEO and executor of Acta. Non Verba.586085220_256

Mail Lite > How did SCUM. start and how did it grow since its inception in 2009? Can you provide a brief history?

Tankos Aphelion > I joined in late 2010. I’d been a highsec carebear until then. SCUM. was my first taste of PvP. We had a fair few members back then, but we soon dropped in numbers after various fallings out between corps. Each time we dropped numbers we relocated to a new ‘home system’ and rebuilt from the new area. Recently we’d been doing really well, but the alarm bells started to ring and I knew it was time for a change.

Mail Lite > I understand SCUM lost 3 out-of-alliance titans in one year? When was this and do you remember the circumstances of their losses?

Tankos Aphelion > This was a while back now, The first one we lost due to a SPY from Tundragon giving the POS password out. The second one was actually the same owner, he tried to move it through lowsec and got caught by Shadow Cartel. The 3rd one was a game mechanic error and was re-imbursed by CCP. The first one hurt. Losing out to a spy was a hard lesson to learn. The others not so bad.

Mail Lite > What would you say was the best moment of SCUM. alliance in its five year history?

Tankos Aphelion > Participating in the Alliance Tournaments. Our first AT was ATXI. We were completely green going in, but we all had a great time 🙂

(Editors Note: SCUM. lost their first fight against Circle-of-Two but won their next 3 fights against Of Sound Mind, Sleeper Social Club and R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. They were then knocked out on the penultimate day by The Curatores Veritatis Alliance.)

Mail Lite > What would you say would be the worst moments of SCUM.?

Tankos Aphelion > The last 2 weeks. SCUM. had been going well but was being jeopardised by 1 persons lack of respect towards his own members.

Mail Lite > SCUM. ex CEO ZAKARIUS’ Biography has some interesting comments. Do you know the story behind them and can you expound on it at all?

Tankos Aphelion > His Bio actually makes me laugh. “Have I rage Quit?” he asks. His whole Bio IS a rage quit! The story is quite simple. It was his name on the door, but he wasn’t really in charge. He hadn’t really been charge for over a year. He took a break from the game and left myself and a few others to keep the corp/Alliance ticking over. Everytime we worked to build relations and improve the alliance, he’d come back and interfere. Recently he started questioning peoples losses and questioning what ships people were ‘allowed’ to fly. Everytime someone questioned him, he’d spout out “I’m the CEO of SCUM. Who are you to question me?” It was like he was the cross-bred son of Eric Cartman and a North Korean Dictator. I decided enough was enough, and stated my intentions to leave. Others decided to join me and now we’re “turncoats”.

Mail Lite > Acta. Non Verba is an alliance that seems to be rising from the ashes of SCUM. and I understand you’re in charge. What are you going to do with it? What direction are you going to take? What are your aims and objectives as an alliance?

Tankos Aphelion > The alliance name is actually going to be changing. We had some issues with the name and how it translates in other languages. So keep an eye out, we’ll have a new name soon enough. We will be continuing with what we have been doing under the SCUM. banner, just without 1 person trying to break it! As for aims/objectives we’ll be basically running around lowsec killing whatever we can, probably losing a lot at the same time, but more importantly enjoying the game!

Mail Lite > Well, thanks for talking to me and good luck with Acta. Non Verba or whatever the name will be!

Tankos Aphelion > Thanks for taking the time to care about lowsec pirates!

As with any alliance, Acta will face its challenges, however the leadership have been in control of SCUM. for a while and know how things work. They also know low-sec and know what their players want. I have flown both with and against SCUM. in the past, so I know they are all pilots with good skills, courage and tenacity. Under whichever alliance name they choose, expect them to terrorize low-sec for years to come.
