Phoebe and Jump Freighters – Working as Intended?

With Phoebe a number of things changed, mostly to do with capital ships and the change that got the most attention was obviously jump fatigue and the fact that capitals can now jump through gates in low and nullsec.

To help balance this new mechanic CCP also had a look at how Heavy Interdictor Cruisers worked and added a few little changes to them.

The main one was that if you have an active Warp Disruption Field Generator, loaded with a Focused Warp Disruption Script on a Carrier who is within jump range of a gate he will be unable to jump through.

This makes perfect sense and in my opinion it should be rolled out for ANY class of ship so that if they are tackled on a gate by a HIC using focused warp disruption scripts they should not be able to jump. This would really change up the way engagements happen and add another piece to quality fleet formations and the the meta game.1521102911_256

Dograzor, a friend of mine from the days of The Black Rabbits, and now one of the diplomats for RAZOR Alliance, sent me the below EvE mail;

Jump Freighters are being prevented of going through gates by focused points of Heavy Interdictor Cruisers.

With the new HIC changes the following ships are listed in the devblog:

Jump freighters are not listed. CCP should look into this issue and fix it, or confirm that it is working as intended.

This issue exists in high sec, low sec and 0.0.

I have reproduced this on SiSi but I have not tried this on TQ as it is impractical (wardecs etc).

Keep in mind that the issue as is will open up many possibilities, including being used in suicide ganking and making bumping not needed for gankers in highsec.

It cannot be used when a JF lands on a gate as there is the after warp invul timer that will give enough time when jumping through, however if this person is slacking off, multiboxing or autopiloting it can be used. I write this as there was a discussion about a lowsec – highsec gates becoming even more dangerous, but if a person is on the ball they should be in the clear. However if you get the system “offline” message you can catch a JF when it lands on a gate while it waits for the server to form the system.

I have also submitted a ticket to CCP on this matter.

So there you have it, at the time of writing a HIC with the right scripts can, in certain situations, stop a Jump Freighter from jumping through a gate even if it is on 0. I’m sure this change will make alliance like Marmite Collective and other general high sec war dec corps very happy.
