J130735 and the Eviction of Adhocracy.

October 11, 2014

‘Adhocracy Incorporated’ or ‘ADHC’, a Wormhole Corporation in their own alliance, Adhocracy,  has been evicted from their home system of J130735 by ‘Future Corps’ also known as ‘FC’ in their own alliance, ‘SSC’ or ‘Sleeper Social Club’.

Wormhole evictions generally occur for one of two reasons; either their space is lucrative and you want it for yourself or they annoyed you and you wish to punish them.
J130735 itself is an average Class 5 wormhole with no system effects and, before the eviction, was already occupied by a particularly entrenched Alliance called Adhocracy. If you compare that with other Class 5 wormholes, such as ones with beneficial system effects and ones that are entirely empty, you’d see that J130735 isn’t a particularly appealing system to any would-be conquerors. Therefore, this eviction has a personal story behind it.

I wanted to find out what the story was and so spoke with representatives from both Organizations:
James Arget – Founder and Former CEO of Future Corps.
Incindir Mauser – Adhocracy Incorporated Diplomat.

The Backstory:

Future Corps and Adhocracy Incorporated have been rubbing shoulders for years; ever since James left Adhocracy and founded Future Corps.
According to Incindir Mauser, James left on bad terms due to a disagreement about Adhocracy’s corporate direction and so founded his own Wormhole Corporation with his own vision in mind. After that, due to chance wormhole connections, Adhocracy Inc. and Future Corps skirmished a few times which led to the destruction of fledgling Future Corps’ Fleets and the generation of more bad blood. Other incidents occurred over time to perpetuate tension between the two parties; both organizations tried to poach each other’s recruits, ADHC harboured a Character who had stolen from FC and Future Corps knew that Adhocracy had moved in at least one scanning alt into their system in order to potentially move in hostile fleets. These, along with other events, kept a grudge alive. In early 2013, Incindir Mauser had the opportunity to interview James Arget on behalf of EN24, because James was running for CSM at the time, and so Incindir chatted with James on skype and endeavoured to both ‘bury the hatchet’ and put their past experiences behind them in order to move on.

[3/17/2013 9:18:32 PM] Incindir Mauser: okay. before we go on the record I’d just like to say that I know that ADHC and SSC have some ‘storied’ history.
[3/17/2013 9:18:45 PM] James Arget: we’re like a couple that broke up
[3/17/2013 9:18:52 PM] James Arget: and we have an occaisional hate-fuck
[3/17/2013 9:19:07 PM] Incindir Mauser: But I want you to know that I will give you a totally fair interview and I’m not in the business of agit propaganda.
[3/17/2013 9:20:34 PM] Incindir Mauser: We’ve got a lot of new blood in ADHC and some of us are wondering “why the hate?” because quite a few of us just don’t hold any animosity for SSC.
[3/17/2013 9:20:52 PM] James Arget: oh, it’s most certainly just an old member thing
[3/17/2013 9:21:15 PM] James Arget: i try to avoid talking about it with new members as well, because the best way to bury the hatchet is if they just don’t know about it to begin with
[3/17/2013 9:22:26 PM] Incindir Mauser: Right. So I just wanted to say that because I don’t want you to think that I’m angling to make you look bad out of some shit that started before my time in ADHC.
[3/17/2013 9:22:40 PM] James Arget: fair enough
[3/17/2013 9:23:03 PM] James Arget: I’m happy to say that I think both groups are beyond that point now
[3/17/2013 9:23:48 PM] Incindir Mauser: Sounds good. 🙂

Incindir believed  that ‘all that old stuff had been water under the bridge’ and for the most part, he was right because James Arget says that, ‘the grudge kept us interested in adhc for a long time’ but that it was only a contributing factor to their eviction of Adhocracy. They moved now  because, ‘it was a good opportunity for the majority of our members, this was a chance to go all out and do something memorable’.  For Future Corps this was mainly about the Challenge with a side dish of revenge for older members.

The Eviction:

Future Corps had been planning their invasion for while, chain rolling and slowly moving in capitals through low and null sec during Adhocracy’s quiet periods. They used their, ‘greater TZ coverage’ as James put it, to their advantage. After a while Future Corps had amassed 9 Dreadnoughts and 4 Carriers inside J130735 ahead of their planned D-Day. James said in reference to the upcoming Phoebe changes that, ‘in a bit over a month now (if I have the release date right) our insertion method will no longer be viable’ and so Future Corps assault was well timed. When asked what he believed to be the deciding factor in how FC won, he responded that it was timing, ‘we timed our insertion, so we got in undetected. we took the first engagement fairly early on a thursday, which is atypical, but we had prepped for it and were able to log in a large force to leverage our caps’. James is more right than he even knows, for when Incindir was asked the same question, he responded that ‘we simply weren’t ready for an invasion. Our POSes weren’t set up properly. ADHC was literally at it’s lowest point in terms of participation and general esprit de corps’ and ‘ they had a plan, they hit us when we were weakest’.

In regard to actual isk damage and the cost of the war, reports vary. Incindir believes they lost 100 billion isk trying to repel their attackers plus assets in space and ships lost inside destroyed structures. James believes that in total the loss is around 320 billion in kills, with a further 65 billion recovered by Future Corps. James reckons that almost 300 billion more was lost in unrecorded self-destructs.

The Aftermath:

James has no further plans for J130735 having accomplished his goals, stating that it is now, ‘barren,’ and that he believes ‘it will remain so for them’.

Incindir believes that the loss of their Wormhole is a good thing for their corporation in the long run because they had been suffering from boredom and lack of participation. He says and I quote, ‘Getting kicked out has lead to a resurgence of old guard ADHC people coming back to the game. Probably the best thing that ever happened to us in terms of activity as a corporation.’ Incindir had one final thing to say on the matter and that was, ‘If there is anything I wish to convey is that this eviction has only left us stronger and with a drive to get good at what we used to do, and that’s blowing up ships and sacrificing pods to Bob.’

All in all, Future Corps/ Sleeper Social Club carried out a well-timed and daring assault on a fortified wormhole belonging to Adhocracy. It seems that both sides had fun though, even Incindir who lost almost all of everything he owned claimed that, ‘I had the most fun in two years since joining ADHC that night the invasion started’ and isn’t that all that really matters?

Fly dangerous everyone, but have fun doing it
