BRAVE News Round-Up Week 35

September 9, 2014

A lot that happens in New Eden on any given day and while it’s impossible to follow everything that goes on, I wanted to tell the story of The HERO Coalition using YouTube to chronicle and show everyone what exactly is going down. Nothing like seeing it for yourself right? Eve is all about it’s stories and while I’m unable to follow them all, I can report back on what’s been happening in my part of the universe. Introducing The BRAVE News Round-Up! Covering Providence and Catch with war reports in my attempt to follow and report the stories that are taking place out there for you to all enjoy.

The pace of the Providence / Catch war has now slowed to nothing more than small fleets from either side harassing jump bridges and dropping sovereignty blockade units (SBU’s). Occasionally we get a small group skirmish but otherwise not a huge amount has been going on. That doesn’t mean that HERO has been quite. In fact- quite the opposite.

Thursday 4th of September

While defending our northern border we formed a fleet to go kill a couple of SBUs that Provi Bloc had dropped in one of our systems. Nothing unusual about this as they have been trying to SBU a number of our systems for a few days now. Sadly, Provi Bloc don’t usually show up to defend them and it became a slow grind to bring them down, but on this day there was something a bit different. Northern Coalition (NC.) in a show of force dropped a Tengu fleet first, and then a very large super fleet which was a real treat for all the “new bros.” Some of which some of them had never seen a super, let alone a full fleet of them. This turned what would have been ordinarily a very mundane evening into something a bit exciting.

Friday the 5th of September

Friday of course was the Eve-Bet Revenant Event. In my video update you can find a couple of videos that have been uploaded from the event and you can jump to the originals by clicking the links. You may be wondering why I don’t have any of my own? Well it’s mainly because my computer just couldn’t handle the four-thousand eight-hundred people that were in local at the time. I spent most of it looking at a glitched out screen where the grid refused to load and none of my modules would run, so I shamelessly stole this footage from other YouTube users. Please check out their videos and give them some well deserved hits.

For me personally and for a number of people the event was considered very much a technical success as the single largest online gathering of eve players in one hit, but it was excruciatingly painful experience. Time Dilation (tidi) was less than 10% for most of the 4 hours, and many people experienced problems with even managing to interact with the game. While I love player events like this- the size of it proved to be just way too much for most people to handle, and it wasn’t any fun listening to people complain. However once the Revenant had died, most of the people on grid left leaving HERO forces on field to loot and have a great brawl with those who remained. HERO coincidentally from the local scans at the time also brought the largest fleet of any single group which was fantastic.

Sadly, the last nail in the coffin for me on this event has been the killmail which still hasn’t shown up. The Eve-Bet.com competition hinged on the killmail in order to award prizes to people who participated. Honestly, some think that the kill mail system has simply been unable to cope with the numbers and have resigned to the fact that we may never get the killmail, which is a great pity to those who stood to gain a lot from the prizes that were being given out.

Saturday the 6th of September

Finally in Catch related news, Imperial Guardians Corporation, which was part of HONOR (aka Spaceship Samurai) was booted from the Alliance due to a dispute between the coalition leaders, executorship, and corp directors. Aura Ikku according to the article on TMC backed up with a set of leaked logs was refusing to follow the agreed course of action. Consolidating power of the alliance sovereignty into one holding corporation to allow better management of the alliances finances. This is not an unusual practice for null sec alliances as it provides a layer of extra security and simplifies many of the processes required to run a sov holding alliance.

As Aura was not playing along, the decision was made to kick the corp from the alliance. The result was all systems held by Imperial Guardians dropped and the HONOR cap fleet was deployed to re-grind all the systems back into HERO Coalition’s hands before anyone could take advantage. While it appears some small fights broke out and fleets attempted to engage the HERO capital fleet they ultimately failed to do so and by the following day all systems that had been dropped had been re-taken.

That’s the round-up for the last few days. If you have any questions, comments, or you would like me to future any of your Eve related videos please leave a comment for me below. Mail me in-game or on Twitter, and until next time – Be Brave.
