Pod Express- Suddenly Station Edition

August 25, 2014

Welcome back to the Pod Express! This edition we take a trip to Aunenen, fly through Jita to wave goodbye to a couple of pods, and last but not least a visit to Ashab. Much like the last Pod Express the same two rules apply:

  • The pod kill must be in highsec or lowsec.
  • The pod kill must not be because of smartbombs.

I present to you the following :

This loss from Argus Krazni happened in Aunenen 0.4 low security space and was part of what appears to be a larger battle, some fits were…

questionable to say the least. If this was indeed any sort of fleet it’s easy to see why they died. It also appears that Argus has not quite learned to spam warp when close to losing a ship, as repeat pod losses seem to be common place on his Zkill profile, this can be found here. Next we have this loss in Jita an 0.9 system in highsec. Jita is one of, if not the largest trade hub in game and attracts all kinds of players, scammer, Marmite, Traders and Pod killers. At first glance this kill may appear to be a suicide gank, but in reality it was the common gank thrasher fit and the even more potent “War declaration” that allowed Snowman1 to instantly destroy Haironfire’s capsule:

I can only imagine the burn that put on their wallet. Also in jita, we have Akane Mishima losing a capsule to an “instant lock Loki” seen here:

After a small skirmish resulting in the loss of her Vexor, the “Instant Loki” managed to quickly get an alpha volley off and sent Akane back to station immediately. Our last pod kill happened in another 0.9 security system Ashab, a single jump from Amarr, another one of New Eden’s major trade hubs. It appears that OMENNES 111 either was being clever and fitting expensive modules to his ship in an effort to bypass most gankers who simply cargo scan, or that he believed his Bestower might be able to put up some resistance if caught by war targets, but either way we have this Bestower loss and shortly after we have this pod loss:

We will have to wait to hear from Omennes 111 to determine how clever he really is. Instead of trying to escape as quickly as possible after a ship loss it appears that Omennes simply prefers to fly with less expensive implants seen here. In closing, with the upcoming Hyperion changes, I recommend if you do not have a “Warp out” tab in your overview, that you ask for someone to share one with you, making it far easier to warp your pod out and keep it safe. Would you like to see more Pod Express articles following the same rule set? Let me know in the comments below, or feel free to mail me.
