Some corporations in Shadow Cartel have recently broken apart due to them seeing Low Security space as turning into Null-Security space with friendlies, reds, and worst of all, politics. This is not something that happened quickly, and the decision to finally split apart for some of the corps, including Collapsed Out (one main corp in Shadow Cartel) and The Generic Pirate Corporation, was months in the working.
The news was broken to their pilots and the other Shadow Cartel corps yesterday. Collapsed Out (CYNOU) was quickly kicked from channels and services were denied. This was unexpected as Collapsed Out had expected a few days to a week to move. However the trust between Shadow Cartel and Collapsed Out rapidly disintegrated and the move that was partially motivated by Shadow Cartel being afraid to fight some unnamed other LS (Low Sec) groups, had to be pushed quickly.
While this may seem like the move was caused by bad blood, the CEO of CYNOU told us that he didn’t want to force Shadow Cartel to change, so he believed that a split was in both of their interests.
Within the next few days, Collapsed Out will be forming a new alliance and I have no information about The Generic Pirate Corporations plan. This move means Collapsed Out will not be able to compete in the Alliance Tournament but they have said that if they make it as an alliance to the next one, they will be competing in it for sure.
I see this move as a good event for Eve as recently Hirr, The Graduates, and Collapsed Out have all demonstrated that Eve Players have the guts to kick up politics in the interest of good pew-pew.
While these alone won’t break apart the blue donut, it is certainly a step in the right direction-
