Weekend War on Two Fronts

December 8, 2013

Western Front: The folly of Markus Dixon

Late Saturday evening a group of CFC Dominix fleets were busy moving back to their staging system in G-0 when Ncdot took notice and decided to drop them in KLMT with a smaller Proteus fleet. Another cyno went up on the grid seconds later as S2N brought in a Dominix fleet to bolster the N3 forces. As soon as the Proteus were engaged on top of the CFC Dominix fleet close range dreads and carriers were jumped in. All seemed to be going well for N3 as a PL cyno went up.

At this point PL pilot Markus Dixon made an easy but quite common mistake and hit the jump button instead of bridge on his titan pilot Royal Bliss. This resulted in the titan being quickly tackled only one jump from G-0 the major CFC staging system in Curse. As CFC began pouring in N3 allies quickly warped up to the PL titan clearing off CFC interdictors. Markus Dixon with little option and not enough cap to jump out decided to warp to planet 2 the celestial he was aligned to. Unfortunately for him a CFC Sabre was able to land a bubble on the titan before he was able to jump and the CFC Dominix fleet shifted to planet 2 engaging the titan at close range with neutralisers and sentries.

Fortunately the titan had a cyno fitted and as N3 landed on grid with their support fleets around 15 to 20 PL Archons jumped in to repair the stricken titan. With a critical mass of carriers arriving CFC seemed to have missed their opportunity to deploy dreadnoughts and taking heavy Dominix losses attempted to extract. When the CFC bailed N3 had around 200 Archons on the field with the titan not dipping below 80% armour the entire fight. CFC FC Lazerous Telraven had the following to say after his Dominix was killed off early in the fight.

Fuck you canaris, I will alpha you off the field every time I see you on it from now on. Have a nice day. Its ok, Every fight this war I haven’t blapped the FC off the field. But I will from now on because no honor.

Eastern Front: Sub-humans strike back

Insidious Empire (EMP) has been fairly effective in the last couple of weeks in dealing with GENTS bomber gangs attempting to take N3 sov in the Kalevala Expanse effectively reversing any progress GENTS have made. It appears morale within GENTS has been wearing thin with line members complaining about only being allowed to use stealth bomber gangs and EMP reversing days of progress in minutes using capital ships. Here are some posts typical of the unrest on GENTS forums:

Yeah, yeah. We’re a 3 year old alliance, the seventh largest in the game by character count, and part of the largest coalition in the game, yet we can’t use capitals on our own… but EMP can? An alliance filled with IRC and TEST rejects, FC’d by Baki Yuku?

All of those examples are coalition fleets. I was talking about alliance usage. I’ve been in this alliance for more than a year now, and I’ve seen dreads used twice. To shoot towers.

I am for using capitals more despite the risk involved, because this is a game and we should take risks to do fun things in said game. Shooting structures in stealth bombers is not, and will never be fun. Nor is never escalating and always ceding the field whenever anyone, anywhere escalates to capitals. I realize these are the drone regions and its a pain in the ass in our current situation, but the same reasons are wheeled out every single time, no matter where we are. Even if we’re right at home in Vale and within jump range of QPO, so pardon me if I’m not too welcoming of it anymore.

Today however EMP made their first major progress in taking CFC space by capturing the station system of P-E. Despite GENTS and other CFC members appearing like they would form to defend this space a large showing from N3 seemed to put them off and GENTS reshipped to bombers and Nagas. It is interesting to note GENTS were unwilling to use capitals even when they had a friendly station to park them on as N3 have done quite effectively for the last few weeks. GENTS chose a different strategy and threw some Nagas and bombers away by warping into the combined N3 fleets before standing down.

The War Continues

With RUS block noticably absent in the last week since their failiure to take out DY- and XVV it appears CFC is doing most of the heavy lifting on both fronts. It will be interesting to see if RUS attempts another strong offensive in the coming days but the war seems to have ground to a standstill.
