Northern Coalition.’s summer deployment has started. Based in lowsec Derelik - Hasateem came the first engagement with the residents of Providence as SBU’s are dropped and POS’s reinforced to encourage a fight for both sides to enjoy.
This first engagement took place in the system of I-MGAB. This system is currently held by a core proviblock alliance, The Fourth District. The outcome of this engagement can be seen here. The details of the battle are detailed below from the relevant parties.
Travis Musgrat and The Scanner scouted the Capital Ship Assembly Array inside the POS and put it into reinforcement which then came out in pretty much US prime time. On form up we got right around ~100 man rattlesnake fleet, with CVA and pets having a little bit more but they split their fleet into Naga’s/Domi’s. Which to me was kind of an odd choice but v0v.
We jumped in and it took us a second to get into our groove so we ended up losing a hanful of scimi’s and had to bail as they were on the in-gate. So we regrouped and sorted our shit and let them warp on us and went to work on their fleet, where we were able to kill pretty much 3 targets at once with the cruise and split triggers, so shit was dying quickly.
Once the tower was about out they put like 12 carriers in it and we went to the jammer to rage take it down. Here they ended up warping the subs on us again and we finished mopping them up on their POS and then warped over to the CSAA tower to gank as many carriers as we could get. We got like 4 before the rest got into the shield but we didn’t have a t2 hic or a t2 bubble so the carriers were able to get to the center of the POS and peace out.
At that point we just chased their subs to their out gate, caught a handful and went home and it was a gf. However we Let the Titan CSAA live as the carriers didn’t rep the POS up enough so we could have killed the tower.
Ladel Teravada gave me the opposing sides opinion:
The intel we had was that NCdot would bridge into one of the two nearby systems at a random time of their own leisure and hit the jammer. They did that like three times and we repped it up because why should we allow them to drop caps however they want. They did so repeatedly without us being able to counter it since Provi cant formup 100+ man gangs in no-time.
We knew they’d come for timer and start by hitting the jammer if they could. We had different gangs up because not everyone can fly armor doctrine or shield doctrine so making sure we could get the best out of our shittiest tz we had to form that. We hit NCdot when they came in, first skirmish was a clear victory for Proviblock with most of enemy logis and some support down for next to no losses.
The coming two fights went worse and due to us being unable to reinforce ourselves with test camping our reinforcement pipes it became a snowball effect. Ncdot went for jammer, changed their mind as one or two of our carriers had missed how momentum+mass brings you outside shields when you hit triage and they went for those, easily killing the armor tanking carriers that for some reason were there.
After this we left and ncdot left. We underperformed, NCdot had a superior doctrine which cost about 10 times more than everything we brought including carriers. As soon it was clear they could reinforce at their leisure, the fight was already over.
With only one of the pricey rattlesnakes destroyed in comparison to the 4 carriers lost to the defenders it was a costly affair with approx 18.5B destroyed and 4.8B lost for NCdot.
It will be interesting to see if a change in timezone for the engagement will sway the fight one way or another, only time will tell. Which side are you guys on?
