Hey there, Captain Sunflower again – what you are about to read is a two part expose on some of the idiosyncrasy of Worm Hole space. This one is a bit more focused on the “carebear conundrum”.

The first thing you need to know is that care bears run rampant in wormholes. Contrary to polular belief, not having local is a boon to carebearing and isk farming rather than a deterent. And, as in all of Eve, a carebear’s number one strategy: hide in their dickstar pos and hope you go away. In away it is much like null farmers who belt rat until one neutral appears in local.  It can be a real hassle getting them to evict them as well.

For example, my corp has been taking over a c5 wormhole. The system was occupied by a corp of 9 characters (mostly alts) with a pos of 40 jammers 5 neuts, 12 hardeners, and about 4 guns. For a corp of about 30 toons with ~18 people (People do have jobs) it can take a while to cut all that down and reinforce the tower (which we did over multiple all-nighters. If you guys recognize this then I’m giving you a shout out). That’s not including the Pocos that need to be bashed down.

As a tip for any actual corp who is seriously interested in moving to wormhole space; try invading your target system; you will probably go unmolested by the occupants. The biggest hassle to removing a care bear is getting at their pos. For an average corp of 30 people that can still take many hours for all the defenses and the shields.

Naturally this can drive the reputable wormhole corps a little mad. Wormhole space fights require a lot of planning and are hard to come by. Assuming they’re not pve only worm spacers and to get a fight you have to:

Find the holes
Then scan down where the occupants are
Then get the fleet together
Then go there
Next shoot them (the fun part fyi)
Then get kills
Then be killed (the not so fun part)
After that get a new clone and scan your way back into your home system.

It’s usually about step 2 where things don’t pan out. On some days it can take a few hours to find somebody active. After all that work and finding people who instantly pos up, things can get a little frustrating for the veterans. I assure you it’s a common and reoccurring theme that wears thin after years in unknown space.

However there is an upside. As with the rest of Eve, reputation matters in wormholes for residents. If somebody attacks you they will static into your system one day. Eve, and especially worm space, is a finite area. It’s only a matter of time before the person who merely was trying to provoke a fight shows up with more big friends and evicts you. Aperture Harmonics, K162, EXHALE are among a few who do it for the betterment of Wormhole space. If you need proof that people hate farmers and are relentless  look here.

I would guess their primary motivation is the reduction in their income by risk adverse people. In my next article I’ll shed some light on the more harsher idiosyncrasies of wormhole residents.

This is true, my corp used this tactic before, we entered a C3 and hammered down 2 POSes, bubbled up everything and we killed everyone's pods, then we collapsed the entrance…. that was a 72h Op, Then after 4 months we got tired of it and we just left the WH empty…( We just received info that someone killed ower POCO a month after…). But no big deal… We just did it all again last month, but this time we plan to stay longer…. The only thing that could be different in this is the POS itself… it is a pain to configure and to live on it…. it badly need a CCP revamp .

I think we'd all be better off if he never posted at all. Honestly, who let this get published?

To Sunflower, please get a clue before spouting off random crap about something you very obviously know extremely little about. When you write something like this trying to sound like an expert you just look like a fool to anyone who does know the subject.

Also, spell check and grammar check would at least make you look literate, but unfortunately it still doesn't fix BS.

  3. Get your facts straight. K162 is alliance for Aperture Harmonics.

Also it only takes 2 Dreads to kill your suggested POS setup.

Ok you owe me 10 minutes. 2 for reading it and the rest for figuring out that no matter how many times I would read that it would still make no sense.

I have decided not to go into WH space until the POS's are sorted out so we can have security in them.

In a way, this article is an invitation for those who are even somewhat interested in wormhole space to come and do their own little siege ops. Wormhole space truly is littered with systems owned by people who will not fight whatsoever because this is how they get their money. Even nullsec alliances like Goons and Solar have corporations in wh space just to farm isk.

Almost needless to say, this drives many of the bigger wormhole alliances mad, which is why you will also see us doing stuff iin nullsec and lowsec. PvP in wormhole space can be bone dry a good amount of the time. But that will get resolved when more people participate and move in.

So, interested in PvP? Wanting to do something different from the norm in k-space? Have some dedication and endurance? Get your own wormhole system and go burn some bears.

I love the hate, typically from people that couldn't put a coherent article together, so they rag on others for writing articles about things they are passionate about. Nice work CSF.

Let me get this straight. Your wrote a long winded whine because your 30 toon (18 person) corp took on a 9 toon (3 person?) corp in a C5 wormhole and A) they availed themselves of all defenses they could and B) they wouldn't fight you?

    Please just stop now.

Something is pretty wrong if a 9 man corp caused you trouble in a C5. Get some skills or stop trying to punch above your weight (SP or isk wise)

I don't really understand the point of this article. Everything he's stated here, is found all throughout EVE not just wh's. Carebears who put pos's up in low sec and do some mining don't pos up but dock up. At least in a wh you can burn their safety net down around them. In low and npc null you can't hit the stations to boot them out.

Like the others, not sure what the point is here. A smaller group is declining to fight on your terms, which are clearly in your favor (numbers). So they have a strong POS, which is pretty normal for even C1 wh's.

Not sure why you don't just put up YOUR pos at a different moon, and proceed like they aren't even there. If they come out and play your numbers will win. Are you truly worried that one of their 3 players will kill you during a capital escalation with your rr bs's ? They might gank at your gravs?

You would probably have more to worry about from random traffic than that small group.

C5, why didnt you use a dread?

Also, I seriously doubt its the lack of local that encourages carebearing, and more like the lack of a static entrance(not a static wh. static entrance) with high isk profitability

Aperture Harmonics (K162) << AHARM is usually known as 'aharm' rather than k162 alliance, or the full corp name

Also, it might be just me, but the link isn't working '404 not found'
