Verge of Collapse Alliance is happy to present the very first Etana lottery for the year 2013. The lottery will be conducted in a “Winner takes all” fashion, with the winner receiving an Etana Hull or the option of an instant 70 billion ISK payout.
This your chance to get your hands on 1 of only 6 of these Unique ships.
This will be the 6th Etana leaving the Verge of Collapse stable. The very first Etana was sold at an auction, #2 & #3 were sold to collectors and the #4 and #5th were given away as a prizes in the last two lotteries. Our last two lotteries were a smashing success, you can see them here:

This is a very unique ship, its a logistic cruiser capable of Black Ops and Covert Ops operations, having the ability to use Black Op bridges and cloaking. The Etana will be a great boon, especially with that upcoming Black Ops buff.
There will be 4,000 tickets available at 20m each and the lottery will continue to run until all tickets are sold. You can keep track of your tickets at:

I think there is an issue with the tourney prices.
Currently the Etana is not being sold for no less than 70 billion isk
No one is going to fly that ship with that price
Issue is that the amount of bpc runs have kept the same but amount of players have increased over the years
With only collectors buying those ships there is no point putting development time in the ships
Why not give out 50 unike super secret medals so collectos can spend 70 billion isk to buy those?
Why not ten fold the amount of ships given out the the winning team.
Instead of only bpc's of 50, bpc's of 500 so more people can actuly buy them and use them?
Instead of 50 x 50 or 70 bill isk > 500 x 5 or 7 billion isk.
The winners get the same price and the playerbase get more action and shiney ships to kill in space to brag about

Since the etana is such a awesome ship and only a few got sold, i sugest to apply this also on last year first place and second place winners.
Even if they had 500 ships, you're looking at a percentage increase of seeing people actually USE them to be negligible. You might get a few more top PvPers but it would still be stupid to realistically use them. If someone had, say, managed to get 4-5 of them, then I can see them being used by the person until there were one or two left.

if it can be used effectively in alliance tournament, i dont see why wouldnt rich entities like PL or something like that buy it if they can make a "we gonna beat everyone with this" setup with it.

Instead providing a semi-butthurt tear-filled idea how's about this? Winners of the tourny get the ships like normal, then like a year or two later the ships are re-released but as a super rare drop this way they have some use but they won't be spammed everywhere.

it is still getting rich, because ppl gamble and are weak at maths. It is bullshit. But I like to see this. It is a typical RL sandbox situation, which I am always astoundished, when it happens in Eve, too. It shows, what happens in RL, when gambling becomes legal. Suddenly every cheap scammer starts his lottery or casino. The society becomes infested by gambling addiction, many ppl lose money to scamming schemes.

you know what, fuck the lot of you gainsayers, if you dont agree with the the way it is run or the distribution of prizes, dont fucking buy a ticket. Simples. Personally I would take the 70 bil in isk as I have absolutely no use for a ship that costs that much and would not dare undock the bloody thing if I did. It is what it is, a lottery.
