EN24 went to Amarr local recently to join Chribba, the elusive and unassuming man from Sweden at the helm of the ‘Veldnought’, one of the only dreadnoughts still in high sec. Chribba has been playing EVE since 2003 and over the years has become an institution in the game, providing in game services from 3rd party, loans, advice and even an outpost in null sec. What many don’t realise is that if you have ever used a website related to EVE, it’s quite likely it is one that Chribba built and provides to the community so we asked him why he did it. Here is what he had to say to us.
Mino Noud: How did you start creating websites for the EVE community?
Chribba: Basically I started out by making stuff that I had use for myself, and that I felt was missing to help the community grow, so it sort of grew from there. I thought it would be selfish to keep what I had created to myself so I hosted it for others to use as well.Mino Noud: Why do you do it? What’s in it for you?
Chribba: Seeing the community grow and being able to help out being a part of that growth, plus it’s fun and something I enjoy doing.Mino Noud: What websites do you provide for the community and which is your favourite?
Chribba: Sites include EVE-Files, EVE-Search, EVEBoard, EVE-Agents, EVE-Offline and EVE-Live to mention a few. I would say that EVE-Files and EVE-Search are very close to my heart as they were among the first ones, but I do love EVEBoard and EVE-Live for the statistics they can provide.Mino Noud: Do you have anything else that you’re planning?
Chribba: There are some projects ongoing but I don’t have as much time now days as I would like so it’s slow. I can’t spill much about it though since I don’t know how far off it is.Mino Noud: How does it feel to be one of the most famous people in the game? How do you cope with that?
Chribba: It’s always nice to have cheerful ‘hello’s’ and the such in local, so I appreciate it and like it a lot. I’m very thankful and honoured that people want to wave to me but in all honesty I’m just happy to be a part of the community. The fame thing is pretty easy and I just deal with it, plus I’m not very special.Mino Noud: Do you have any tips for anyone who wanted to provide services to the community?
Chribba: Try to find a niche that you like and something that will benefit the community and I’m sure anyone will see success. I think this community has shown great potential from many different angles including intel-sites etc.
Opinion is often divided on Chribba. Some people appreciate everything he does for the community while others dislike his cult like popularity and status. No matter what side of the fence you’re on it cannot be denied that he has been a great help to the community and, to an extent, CCP themselves. It will be interesting to see what these new projects are that he has in store, whether they will be related to DUST 514 or perhaps an ability to drill down through data from multiple sources if you’re running an alliance. Who knows? All we know is that we shall watch with anticipation for what Chribba will leave under the EVE community Christmas tree.

I hope to god you are trolling, its hard to tell because you have your heads so far up mittens arse. Sooo coz i like to say it over and over again, Goons have done nothing for the game other than show that you can reach decent milestones with a good leadership and lots of sheep but anybody couldve done that (test ect) Chribba is one of the very few that creates new out of game content that helps the community and not for self profit or recognition.
Goons are a disease and just like every top powerblock they will fall 'eventually' and you will toddle on back to WOW and EVE will be restored back to normal with a higher precentage of decent smart people that can think for themselves.

It's safe to say you can ignore anything he says, he's only doing it to get a reaction. Everyone in Goons confirms Chribba is a nube that the other alliances think is their savior. We are your boss and Chribba's in every possible way. What part of that don't you understand?

In four years of playing eve..the last two being in deep null…one being in low surrounded by goons coming and going…my game play, style and experience has not been even remotely influenced or impacted by goons. You may argue they influence the economy and gaming styles…but I've killed many a goons and never lost isk to them or their "influence".
Some will ask who am I? I'm your average pew pew non sov holding pilot…and boy are there a lot just like me in the exact same situation..where goons have been nothing but a story and talked about entity. The name has more power than anything, unfortunately that is enough to keep people sucking on the tit. All it takes is a major move by a director or spy (or both..hint hint) to send the mass into a downward spiral.. which eve has proven to be an unavoidable threat. Information leak: the rats are deep inside and you'd be losing sleep knowing the potential storm brewing..could be months or years but the fact little old me knows shows the ignorance within.

P.S. the simple discussion of Chribba give me major wood due to the fact it's one man behind the name.

All you morons that keep asking, "why does Goons hate Chribba", need to stfu. Think for a minute or so. Use your tiny little brains, remove it out of your ass, and step out of the box you call High Sec. It makes perfect sense. Chribba is richer than entire GSF put together. Chribba posses a threat. The loyalty he has from friends he has made is in many ways much more solid than the structure that most alliances have. GSF rules through fear and numbers. Chribba rules through the prime example of what a good man is really made of. Chribba is exactly the kind of person what honorable kings are made of.

Chribba has done so much for the game and community as a whole. I would support him for csm but doubt he would run. Why is Mittens name gotta be brought up? He has done absolutly ZIP for the game other than draw attention to himself like some inmature teenager, he needs to grow the fuck up and maybe he'll get respect.
