For today’s TweetFeet discussion I feel compelled at repoasting the following forum op from EVE-O’s. In it a carebear explains how the tables has been turned a bit in their favors given the new bounty/kill rights system introduced in Retribution:

So that’s what a victory in this game feels like!

As a total carebear who likes mining and making things who, up until last week was about to give up on this game because I felt that I would never be able to get revenge against all those who have wronged me (check my kill board, there is been a few).

I took a good look into this and rubbed my dirty miners hands together.

At last a way I can get my own back.

So today I sold my kill rights, all of them, and a few hours after doing so, a notification popped up saying a kill right had been completed.

I checked the kill boards.

My loss, 50m, their loss, 58m.

Victory.

Shortly after members of the pirate corp, threatened to come and find me and kill me. My simple reply, I have deep pockets, for every kill you make on me: I will add as a bounty on your corp, every kill right: I will sell.

I cant fight you, but others can and you will have to lose 5 x my loss for wronging me.

I swear, I could almost taste the pirate tears… Or is that carebear tears?

Now I understand why all them pirates for all these years complained so loudly as soon as there was any threat to their power. It was now time for them to feel like victims.

I have not once, in all of my game time in eve, felt like I had actually “won”. I felt like the beaten up bottom of the pile pesant that gets kicked around all fhe time. I didnt make this kill, but it felt like I did and it felt good.

So much so I sent the people on the kill mail a thankyou email and some extra ISK with encouragement to keep up the good work.

Oh revenge is so sweet.

Thank you CCP for allowing carebears to encourage the pew pew in others.

Delicious! What’s your retribution story?

Judging his losses it's more a location question. It's a young character, possibly the pilot doesn't know how to better fit or fly ships. But he should know after a few losses that lowsec is dangerous and nobody flies badgers, retrievers and pve-ships through the systems without scouting

The Retribution kill right system is absolutely fantastic & in my humble opinion the best thing about this expansion. I had 4 kill rights on me, a couple of which have been made available to everyone. I'm loving the fact that I can be pounced on wherever I go. It's a whole new level of excitement. I'll be sure to gain more kill rights when these ones expire / I die. Bravo CCP for making kill rights a win win!

I completely agree. The bounty system had been broken for so long it had become a joke. Hats off to CCP – not only did they revamp a useless feature, they strengthened the sandbox through encouraging emergent gameplay. Couple this with a major overhaul of Crimewatch and you have an expansion that is injecting new life into a game at a fundamental level. The future is bright, the future is EVE

1 – Get toon in target corp
2 – Get mole toon to attack your own toon, mr. Moneybags
3 – Set a huge ransom on their collective ass
4 – Watch them get interdicted out of high sec

How do you stop this? Don't think you can. Greed can be beautiful.

Food for thought, when I woke up this morning I realized that this was the worst post here, since you can put a bounty on anyone anywhere WTF would someone waste time getting a toon in target corp for. Just put a good bounty on said corp and the gunships will roll out! And Since attacking your self would only give kill rights to your alt, this would prove to be useless!

        Bounty != Killrighs ….

first off Bounty doesn't mean jack shit im sorry

the alliance GENTS got a 9B bounty on them. does it matter? NO
the standard that should apply to all flying in highsec
        * DONT fly what you can't afford to lose
        * put a buffert tank on that ship.

basicly sure you lose a few ships to a suicide ganker but the only ships that are vulneralbe is ships worth 1b+ (20% is 200m so its worth it)
and having a ship worth 1b+ i can only think of one strategic cruisers thats solo gankable for that value. (remember you will get concorded)

a Killright on the other hand is another thing. you can sell your right to kill someone without Concord interference.

This will make a change on the freighter killing I recon.

when you can put a crosshair on the gankers
also combining it with a bounty would make it lucrative to deal with them.

        i like the changes.

You missunderstand bounties. If I kill ship worth 40 million belonging to a someone with a 1B. I get an 8 million isk cut of the 1 Billion bounty. What it does is make suicide ganking a bounty target much more viable. As long as I beat a 5 to 1 value of target vs value of my ship(s) I make isk. Of course some people will do it hoping a valuble module/cargo drops with the bounty as a backup plan.

Bounties now for the first time in EvE actually work. There is a lot of thing it seems in EvE that were implemented years ago like bounties and faction warfare that that were left broken for years… and finally the programing has now been completed. Its great that it finally works but on the other hand CCP have to ask themselves why it took them years to complete these features because lets not make any mistakes about it, this is not an enhancement this is CCP finishing work it should have completed several years ago….

Now will CCP finally start working on the tech supper power problem they have created, that has eliminated all future major combat from EvE? Or will it take them several more years to work out this is something they should have done years ago?

The easiest answer to this has always been lower traffic areas AND most important don't be worth ganking. Stay in the NPC corps if you want and mine away. Between that and the kill rights today… idk seems an easy solution to me.

you do realise that sticking a bounty on someone doesnt give you the free right to kill them anywhere…bounties are still the same as before just look better and you get bounty on the ship kill not just the pod. Other than that you still cant attack them in highsec without getting concorded or in low sec without getting flagged.

And you do realize that if you purchase the kill rights for someone with a bounty (which more than likely are out there since people would put a bounty on the person) you would be able to kill em in highsec.

Lets put on that thinking cap now why dont we?

In Eve, Isk has never been a "weapon". Only a means of acquiring new weapons. Now, since carebears have so much more isk than any of you poor poor gankers imagined it is a weapon.

I make one proposal, if all carebears and those who have been wronged by Goons would each place a 500,000,000isk bounty on the alliance then eventually mutual acquaintences will turn on each other, then friends on friends, and then??? Profit!

I don't post this as a high sec carebear I am posting this as an ex-low sec pirate turned null sec member, turned FW fighter. How do you beat overwhelming "military" force? With MONEY! Greed runs deep through this game.

Dont you people read patch notes ?

The payout is related to 20% of the assessed ship value, and this payout reduces the bounty pool.

Indeed for people to still not understand that bounties now work correctly and there is nothing they can do about it, shows that there are indeed some very stupid people who play EvE. I'm betting the average IQ of a Goon player is pretty low.

Do note that these are goons we are talking about, and it is CCP that implemented the bounty change. somewhere along that someone is going to be able to figure out a way to drain a bounty somehow, perhaps by using price manipulated ships, or mods. so putting a bounty on the goons is as good as handing the isk to them.
