Asine Hitama’s Team has been the first team to fight their way up and defeated the runner up Ronin and Pixels to be crowned the winner of the first ever New Eden Open. Remember, there was $10,000 at stake here!

Since an image is worth a thousand words, here is how the whole thing went down:

Congratulations to the winners and enjoy those Benjamins!

PS: Since I work in advertising, I understand the effort Own3d put into running this tournament so I just wanted to give them a nice shout out to the Own3d guys.

  1. I enjoyed the tournament, it was OK. Liked how CCP Dolanimproved a lot trough the weekends and imo he got on the Fozzie's level. I liked banning ships. Added a bit more variety. The technical problems were a -, but still overall it was an OK tournament for me.

At least it was 100x more smooth and with better commentating than the previous ATs. I enjoyed watching the matches, and paused whenever soundwave showed his ugly face

I want EVE World Cup now.
Teams from around the world competing for their country beyond alliance and corporate lines.
It'd be nice to have regular tournaments for people to practice towards.

It was a great match and congrats to both Asine Hitama and Ronin and Pixels for their efforts. As someone thats's been playing EVE for a while I could watch the match and tell how it could have gone either way for those guys. Unfortunatly for someone that has no previous knowledge about the game, the combat wouldn't have been that interesting despite great commentary from both the guys.

My only suggestion for these 'cash' tourneys to spice it up would be to remove logistic ships from the field. It would gimp a number of fleet concepts but it would also improve the amount of ships blowing up which would increase interest and up viewer's.

That is literally the worst idea ever, You've clearly never flown in the tournament.

I in fact have had that pleasure. While I agree that in the 'normal' alliance tournament that caters to EVE players would pretty much require a true logistic ship, the cash tourney is one that is attempting to showcase EVE and the 'excitment' of internet spaceships. If you believe that the last match was one that showed that excitment to Joe Public, then you are a retarted goatfucker.

EvE will nevr be an e-sport, its legacy as a corrupt place, will never get the respect, ie to be an E-Sport, you need Gambling, and since EvE is mostly bullshit, smoke and mirrors, who would gamble on fixed outcomes.
