A Nyx went down by DekCo hands this morning and well, what can be said besides reciting the old saying “never fly what you cannot afford to lose”:

There has been a pastebin circulating purputedly with the first hand account of kill, written by Miss Death. I am reposting it here, along a few other snippets I was send regarding this kill.:

Sweet ♫Princess♫ Kill

I often use Aurohunen Solar System as a hunting and pissing (logistics) ground and yesterday I noticed that someone had reinforced every Player Owned Customs Office (POCO). The POCO timers were clear to see from anywhere in space (in system) and all POCOs were going to be coming out in the Australian/New Zealand time zone.

I discreetly asked in local if anyone knew who had done the reinforcing, “Who did the POCO reinforcing?” See discrete. No one answered. I convo’d the CEO of a corp that lives in the system and he said he didn’t know either, but seeing I had killed his corp a couple of times in recent days, I had to take his answer with a grain of salt.

Oh well, I’ll make the ass-umption that who ever it was will use high DPS tier 3 battlecruisers or battleships like any normal POCO bashing low sec corp would. I did some maffs (maths) and ass-umed about ten ships at 1000 DPS each to get through 7 mil HP will take 11-12 minutes each POCO. We would have plenty of time to hot drop them (time of hot drop = H hour).

So I stayed in local for the next 24 hours and got a boosting fleet commander Alt in system as well as a backup cyno alt. I pre-wanned Fidelas Constans (FCON) that this same time tomorrow I would be running a hot drop fleet and to get the ships that I wanted ready.

POCO 1 (H Hour)
The next day as the first POCO timer approaches zero, members from The Misfits of Eve (MOE) Alliance started to filter in, but not ten of them as I expected. I was a little confused as to who was going to actually hit the POCOs as no one in local had any numbers of significance.

Two hours before the first POCO came out (H hour minus 120), I warped in and sat cloaked off the first POCO at 300 km and just watched. I gave it plenty of time so I was already on grid for the hot drop and could scout. All I had to do was align, uncloak, warp, point something and drop cyno.

I noticed that most of the POCOs all belonged to the same corp. So I convo’d the CEO and tried to scam him into giving me 1 billion ISK for saving them for him. I was going to do this invariably anyhow by hot dropping, but hey give it a try I say! I failed. He said they were not worth that amount of ISK.

xxx xxx > I see your pocos are getting hit in aurohunen
Jenna Cerribra > yes
xxx xxx > would you like some help to save them?
Jenna Cerribra > you bet
xxx xxx > How much are you willing to pay us?
Jenna Cerribra > nothing
xxx xxx > anyhow think about it… We will help for 1 bil isk.
Jenna Cerribra > they make very little
xxx xxx > I will watch the fun cloaked then

20 minutes before the first POCO came out (H minus 20), FCON members formed up on the titan ready to drop. On H hour we had about 20 in fleet ready to go when on directional scan (dscan) in Aurohunen I saw a tornado and other sub caps like a Redeemer (wtf). They landed at the first POCO and started shooting it generating Global Criminal Countdown (GCC) but there was only four of them. Instead of estimated 11-12 minutes to kill each POCO, these guys are going to be here all day! Then a nyx lands on grid and things get really hectic.

I immediately realise 20 people are not going to cut it, and not one of us are in heavy interdictors (HICs) which is the only way to tackle a super in low sec. I start changing the fleet composition asking people to change out to scripted HICs and battleships and notify Goonswarm knowing this will get a reaction and the support I require.

miss death: I have a nyx to kill
dabigredboat: what
fawlty7: where
dabigredboat: pm

Nothing brings the killmail whores out of the woodwork like a super kill huh?

Within minutes the fleet size doubled. Unfortunately, due to the additional Nyx DPS the POCO dies in only 3-4 minutes (not in 11-12). The MOE guys warp to a safe spot including the Nyx. I notice that the next POCO timer is in exactly 2 hours and 10 minutes. So I stand the fleet down and tell them that they will be well rewarded should they attend the next fleet that I run in 2 hours time. I hate blue-balling guys so I needed to dangle a carrot in the hot they come back next time (time of second hot drop = K hour).

POCO 2 (K Hour)
After a quick discussion amongst some FCs it became clear the best way to tackle a super (in this instance) was to already be on-grid cloaked in a HIC and microwarp drive at it to bump it so it loses alignment and can’t warp out, then point it and light the cyno. I had to burn to Jita to go buy a broadsword and fit. Getting the broadsword back on grid in Aurohunun will have to be done well before the next timer in case they are scouting the POCO. So an hour and a half before the next POCO timer, I land on grid in the broadsword and cloak 19 kilometres below the POCO so I can ram the Nyx from below. The titan logs in 70 minutes before the POCO timer. Ambush is now set (K minus 70).

I do some research on the MOE guys. Previous kills, ship types, etc and I notice the Nyx pilot is still online and in local. Probably cloaked at his safe spot. So in continue to keep an eye on Jedin Pori and hope that he doesn’t log out.

With 30 minutes to go (K minus 30); FCON, Goons and Razor Alliances are notified of the fleet and we form. This time, we have plenty of DPS, more than enough HICs and backup cynos. We are set.

In the FC channel I give the count down every few minutes as the POCO timer approaches zero. At K hour I state, “Time”. Then again on dscan I see a tornado and sub-caps, but no Redeemer and the Redeemer pilot isn’t in local. What a bummer, as Redeemer kill would have been a nice addition. Then I get the Nyx on dscan.

On comms I tell the fleet, “This is going down, get the f*ck on the Titan!”

The nyx lands on grid close to the POCO and 44 kilometres above me. This is problematic as MWDing that distance to bump him is going to take valuable seconds. Time I can’t afford to give him as his fleet support will be killing me as I burn at him. I have to do this now as his warp-in inertia will make it near impossible for him to warp back out to safety quickly. I decloak and start to burn.

At 25 km I point him, but It doesn’t take the Nyx long to target me seeing my signature radius is plus 500 per cent (from the MWD) and I’m instantly capped out from his heavy neut.

(notify) You have started trying to warp scramble Jedin Pori [ATSQ.] MOE (Nyx).
(notify) Warp Disruption Field Generator I requires 45.0 units of charge. The capacitor has only 1.0 units.

So my “sprint of the lion” kind of turns into the “saunter of the hippo” as I try to keep burning. I lose point a second time as I cap out again. I can’t get bump, I have to light the cyno now and let the fleet tackle him. Unfortunately I’m now going too fast to light it…

(notify) Your velocity is too high to activate Cynosural Field Generator I. You’re traveling at 732 m/s but you need to lower your speed below 500 m/s.

So I wait a few seconds more and keep spamming the cyno and the warp scramble as the Nyx fighters start tearing into my shields. As I have no capacitor my shield hardeners are inactive and I start losing shields fast. Finally the cyno lights as I drop below under 500 m/s and I’m now only 5000 metres from the Nyx and have failed to actually ram it. Titan bridge is lit and the fleet jump into system.

At this stage Faulty7 takes over the combat FCing and with multiple HIC points on the Nyx the fleet focuses on the support ships such as the Tornado’s and Talos’. I broadcast for shield repairs; but unfortunately, only one scimitar joined the fleet (damn killmail whores) and he couldn’t out repair the fighter damage and my broadsword finally dies.

So I dock up to change to a neuting tempest. I also undock a backup cyno and warp it into the fight and relight the cyno as more people continue to bridge into system. Some enterprise young Goons also find this the perfect opportunity to jump in their capital ships and whore on the kill. This added an additional complexity to the situation as we are now a legitimate counter hot-drop target. All capitals are ordered to warp out.

It took very little time to cap out the Nyx and a few minutes later he hits structure. I tell any fast locking pilots to lock and kill the pod the instant the Nyx dies, but as he hits remaining 15 per cent structure, Jedin Pori ejects from his nyx and makes his escape. The order is given to cease fire but being so close to death it was too late. The nyx explodes.

We hang around system for another 20 minutes as we count down our own GCC, and loot and salvage the entire field. Op success we head home.

So congratulations to Jedin Pori for making the second most expensive loss this week on Eve-Kill and for fielding his super in such a manner that we saw it better to remove it from his possession.

Hugs and cuddles…

Miss Death

We jumbed in Aurohunen from 15W we got the nyx of where he was frefuelling just in space….He got killed 10 mins after.

Cosmokrator got the kill.

Most of the news on this site is via submission, trawling through verbal diarrhea on Kugu.com, or syndication of blog posts, and dev blogs. At least he gives credit to the people who do the submissions, and credit to the people who made the significant posts on K.com.

Unless he was personally involved, I don't remember any cases where Riv took credit for a story unless he had to develop the information on his own.

Would've loved to have been in the fleet if you had lit the cyno just as the Nyx warped out…

I'm pretty sure Riverini is the only guy attempting to make it work. Its getting to the point of that shitty kugu poster trying to make "fetch" happen.

But how shall we call it? NC MkII?
Granted they are exceeding the former in all areas: numbers, territory and faggotory, but i highly doubt they will appreciate the name either.

Our enemies never get credit for these organised fast encounters [because normally they cant keave without 4x the enemy numbers]

But GJ CFC, You have to give credit when its due, GJ

Fastest formup for CFC i there history

Oi Riv, you're a few thousand pilots short and a year late with the DekCo thing.

I know you know one way to become an expert is to define your own terms, but trust me, it ain't working in this case =P

There are quite a few of us that prefer Delkin Coalition or Goons'n'Friends to their given name. These thigns will happen when the name includes profanity.

Don't get me wrong, they are free to call themselves whatever they want, and the name his hilariously fitting at times. However, there are quite a few of us who still stick to Delkin Coalition and do so for personal reasons.

My personal ethics may be a bit behind the times, yes, but I do stick to them.
I don't put or directly reference profanity in public postings. It's just not my thing.

On topic though, this was a rather amusing kill to read about, good job on suppressing the reckles uses of supers.

    Nice read, thank you, man!

But why ask 3 additional alliances to help in a single Nyx kill? With your 20 dudes it would have been much more fun for everyone. Show some sportsmanship next time.

      Hey thanks!

You want to hit supers hard and fast with no chance of escape, and that takes either super capitals/capitals or numerous sub-caps (or both). You are looking at 32+ million EHP or more if given boosting bonuses on a Nyx. 20 sub-caps take way too long to take that down especially in low sec.

I could have dropped either supers/caps or sub-caps, but I went with the easier to form and manage (and cheaper to replace) sub-cap fleet option.

Just swapping couple guys to hics would have been enough.

Actually, nowadays you should always have couple hics ready when you know someone is going to grind structures, supers are so common.

I see 4x chimera, 2x nid on km's. How exactly did u manage to NOT get reps? The 2h formup was too quick to sort out the RR?

Also the only reason you got the kill is that the nyx pilot was retarded to boot. He didn't warp away twice when u got capped out. Also missed bumps. Who the fuck stays on grid with his lone super to kill a HIC in this day and age? Should've stagger and overload those neuts and spam warp like a mofo. Dumb people in expensive ships.
