The biggest fight happening this weekend was the sub-capital slugfest in 1V-LI2 between Gypsy Band, RED Alliance and Allies temporary called “Neo-Curse Coalition” and the forces of SOLAR FLEET, here is what happened.

Battle Report: Armageddon at 1V-LI2 – Gypsy Band/Red Alliance vs. SOLAR INC

This first battle report was written by a RED.Alliance Member

After some internal conflicts last month RED Alliance quickly reorganized and formed a new powerblock with major Curse players –The Gorgon Empire, DarkspawnDOT, Gypsy Band and several lesser ones.

The powerblock goals are few but not easy:

1) having a goodfights;
2) reclaiming space formerly belonging to RED from its current SOLAR occupants.

After losing the first fleet battle last wednesday the Friends of RED were forced to rethink their tactics and formats, and yesterday the changes that were done led it to first success.

Sunday evening SOLAR and its satellite alliances were forming in 1V-LI2 – one of the key systems in Scalding pass. Estimated number in local was above 450. They fielded armor tanked Lokis and several support fleets.

The main Coalition force comprised of The Unthinkables, Gypsy Band, DarkspawnDOT and WHY so Seri0Us with estimated number somewhere above 300. The moment Friends of RED jumped into 1V-LI2 local SOLAR Forces warped on their cynos and engaged them in close range. For a few minutes Coalition fleet was taking punishment and tengu’s.

Then the RED alliance Scorpion fleet led by Hogan RH came to save the day. With a number of approximately one hundred – scorps and support – RED cynoed in to optimal of 100km and jammed the shit of them Lokis. The tide of battle has turned against SOLAR Forces.

The SOLAR commanders had presence of mind to deploy fleets of tier-3 battlecruisers (mostly Tornado’s) to deal with RED ECM fleet but they were quickly blown out of sky by Mr Miron’s (Gypsy Band FC) and his bomber fleet.

The main coalition force with assistance with The Gorgon Empire and DarkSideDOT tier3 BC fleets then proceded with killing lokis. The SOLAR Forces were pretty much helpless – bound and gagged (though whining in SOLAR fleet chat) by all the jamming and had to pull out. After having taken the field, the SBU’s were taken down in no time.

The total score is 240 vs 46 in favor of Friends of RED.

Power balance was 384 vs 384.

Goodfight.

Second Battle Report

Here is Gypsy Band’s account of the fight

Today brought a new battle in the BAND/RA/INK/GE/WHYS0/DS./DSP (Neo-Curse Coalition) war against SOLAR. The invaders’ plan was to kill the SOLAR SBU at 1V-LI2 and to online their own. Obviously, SOLAR was prepared for that and had more than 450 people in local ready to defend their territories.

First arrived two squads of Gypsy Band bombers and scouted the surroundings while creating their bookmarks. Shortly thereafter a cyno lit up near the SBU and the main 250man Tengu+support fleet of Neo-Curse Coalition had jumped in ready to take on SOLARs. They didn’t have to wait for long as SOLAR Loki+support fleet warped right on top of the cyno and started close range brawling – both sides suffered minor losses due to slow loading grid and the Tengu fleet tried to get some range from the webbing Lokis. Right after the brawl started, a few other cynos lit up and Red Alliance came in with Guardians and 40 armor Scorpions with 5 Minmatar jammers (coalition.serpent.is/kill/953657/), Gorgon Empire and DarkSide. both came with sniper naga fleets. The Scorpions drastically reduced the alpha and dps capabilities of the SOLAR Loki fleet and WHYS0/BAND/INK/DSP Tengus/Scimitars stopped dying. This was not an unexpected turn of events for SOLAR as they brought in a SOLAR-pet T3 BC sniping fleet to deal with it. Unfortunately for them, a squad of Gypsy Band bombers were ready for it and almost instantaneously blew up almost the whole sniping fleet, in total around 75 T3 Battlecruisers.

Situation after first bombing run

Shortly thereafter another SOLAR and SOLAR-pets sniping fleet came in, but that too was annihilated by Gypsy Band bombers – in total around another 55 T3 Battlecruisers. Here the fate of the SOLAR FLEET fleet (:D) was sealed, they were pinned down in the middle with heavily tanked Tengus right on their feet tossing hero-dictors on them like they are candy, 5 Minmatar jammer Scorps keeping them locked and two sniping Naga fleets ravaging them. The SOLAR FLEET fleet (:DD) was kept locked down by the brave suicides of dictors until they decided to warp away to minimize their losses while leaving some of their own left back to die. While the main fleet was picking off last Lokis, gypsies being gypsies, the bomber squads were let loose on the wrecks of t3 cruisers, some being luckier than others – i.imgur.com/u92R5.png. With the enemy disengaged, the invaders took down the SOLAR SBU and onlined their own completing their strategic objective.

Post-fight analysis.

One of the biggest problems for the Neo-Curse Coalition was and still is coordination and lack of symbiotic fleet formats for all participants. Previously, some fleets jumped before even the roles and assignments were delegated thus concluding with less than satisfactory results for their side – lets remember the last major engagement coalition.serpent.is/battle/b5178/. Today they prepared for the fight with leftover bitterness from the last weeks losses, but with a steady mind constructed the fleet structures and formats. The modern EVE fleet is a complex, multiple-part structure, the days of only-Battleship fleets or Abaddon-bubbles have gone the one-way road down to neverland and are a thing of the past. Nowadays a proper CTA-fleet will be somewhat similar to the Alliance Tournament formats with ECM, ECCM, Target Painters, Tracking Disruptors, Sensor Dampeners, tanking and dps ships – everything has to be carefully balanced for then the fleet can take on bigger, harder foes. Certainly this is more fun than just keep pressing “F1″ on primary until the biggest “blob” stands.

Without doubt SOLAR have a clear advantage in Sov-warfare as they do not get bored or lazy from a many-houred structure grind while the rag-tag team of privateers in the anti-SF coalition are not used to such pastime and this might result with the Neo-Curse Coalition losing Sov/POSes/Stations. But the battles that are had are real, beautiful, with almost even numbers (no clear outblobbing), where the pilots’ individual skill and tactical tricks actually matter – the structure and timer grinds are definitely worth it.

    scorps eh?

pretty gay I guess but really CCP's fault for making ECM overpowered.

Good job RA, using your head for once.

ECM isn't overpowered anymore. Just void and kill those fuckers – they die easy.

I have to agree. All ECM ships die easily if any DPS at all hits them. While the ECM module might be considered overpowered by some the ships themselves aren't which balances it out. Any alliance is capable of putting scorps on the field but props to RA for doing it without having them die in a horrible fire.

Solar needs to get it's own bombers on the field or life isn't going to go well for them.

ECM boat's normally lack any tank and to be honest at those ranges of 100km plus a nado or naga fleet will kill a scorp in a single volley while the jams won't be consistent.

Mental but great fight. In the middle of it it was easy not even to notice the scorps come in and start permajamming the solar lokis, but thank god they did. (And thank god for the fantastic coalition FC's who co-ordinated the whole thing).

Great confidence builder and great effort from solar. Thats why EVE is awesome!

Yep, I was there. Huge props to Gypsy’s bombers. Truly changed that battle is very short order. If you can’t laugh after seeing your entire sniper fleet get eradicated in the blink of an eye, you just take the game too serious. Fun fights to be had for sure.

I was in Tornado fleet 1 that got bombed. Gotta say, great bombing run, they were on us within 1 minute and we all popped. That Gypsy run really decided the fight in my opinion. The scorpions were going to start melting fast.

Even numbers, competent FC, complex tactics and fleet doctrines, respect for your opponents. This is how most of eve 0.0 big fights would look like if there was no Goons and Test. Think about it.

Have you ever seen a Goon or Test fleet? There's far more to it than "MOAR DURRAKES".

But whatever, the joke is on you if you feel like you're losing your game to terrible players.

Goons yes, Test not really. HBC fields a fair few doctrines to most of their fleets. Including competant bomber wings. It's just they field so many people, more than CFC does.

As one of the Ink logis during that fight, we we wondering if broadcasts had broken, due the complete drop in shield broadcasts. Apparently, an epic bombing run and coordinated jamming will hit the enemy alpha pretty badly

Spy. You don't warp 300 off station straight into a HIC safe. A TCU just "happened" to offline and then a Titan "just happened" to welp itself. Whatever.
