A medium sized corp is going to find the PLEX costs extrely expensive… if you are in a smaller corp 20 or less forget getting in the tourney.

As a further addition to that, might I suggest proper groups whereby the top two, say, get through to the knockout rounds except everyone fights everyone as opposed to the flawed system where you only fought two other teams in previous tournaments. Seed some alliance teams that are recognised as worthy of bypassing the group stage, and tadaah. You get some great potential for allowing mass participation and also keep the nullsec blocs happy by giving them the chance to avoid fighting the little guys.

This is a good way to get people interested in the game.
The Alliance tournament is one of the best parts of EvE.
If this can be managed properly, it is win for CCP and for EvE players.

BUT – the very big but is, as soon as you involve this kind of money, how does CCP avoid things becoming nasty? – DOS attacks? hacking? viruses? Real life money deals?
Dose CCP really want to be responsible and understand their responsibilities in policing this? If they do and can, then great lets all have fun.

What the hell are you talking about ? Let the Sandbox work it out ? If what you mean is they should allow players to make tournaments . . . then yes they do. Players run tournaments all the time. But per usual it is hardcore players and not casual players that participate in them. Tournaments require months of practice, spying, theory crafting and such to even have a chance of winning. Casual players by definition don't commit enough time to Eve to do that . . . if they did they would be core players.

my, my…………..I've played since beta….they should have let the players (sandbox) work it out, instead of playing to the 'interests'. Fringe players do dedicate more time than you give them credit. Not whining, just stating a fact…obviously it struck a nerve with you. Keep deluding yourself and you will be fine.

It sounded promising in the beginning until the "fees" came in 20 plex for the average players not in the big alliances with bountiful rats is hard to come by especially with high-sec ganking. This is just another ploy for the major alliances to show how much isk they have and the "average player" is once again left out. Good job on secluding the rest of eve again.

32 teams * 20 PLEX * 12$ per plex => 7680$

And auctions will go much higher than 20 PLEX. They could have gone higher for the price pool IMO. Even though one has to take in account the cost of orgnaising the tournament, it seems cheap.

Now the question : is a team going to bid more than 10k$ worth of plexes ?
