Apparently Sony Computer Entertainment of American’s CEO either compromised CCP Games launch date or actually hinted the release date of DUST 514 for PlayStation 3, IGN among other mainstream video game media reported:
When asked about the trend towards cheaper and outright free-to-play games, Tretton notes that PlayStation platforms already have free-to-play titles. “We do have free-to-play games. A game called Dust 514 is a full-blown first-person shooter available on PlayStation 3 that not only allows you to play against your friends on PS3, but also against people on the PC.” When asked for clarification on if it’s “Dust” or “Dusk,” Tretton confirms it’s Dust, following up with a seemingly innocuous statement: “Coming out next month.”
I am really eager to see on how DUST 514 will turn out and of course I would like to see it live ASAP, but in this writer’s opinion there is a ton of tweaks CCP Games should iron out before releasing DUST 514 into the wild, I won’t get into details (*WINK* – NDA! – *WINK*) – but lets just say the competition is fierce and I hope CCP Games don’t pull another Incarna here, a half finished product could throw all the effort to wast – I for once would like to see CCP Games succeed here.
Speculation aside, October is just a few days ahead and we’ll see if this is just hot air from an ill informed high-up in SONY or if CCP Games will actually announced a solid launch date.

If your waiting on a titan, you better not be playing something else because you do not know when that bridge will open. When it dose you may miss the boat and be kicked out of fleet or worse.
Clearly you dont play all your games running in windows rather than fullscreen so you never miss anything…
Idling in null in a Titan doesn't always involve being in a fleet. It's also not a game you need to tab out of to play, since you have to play it on a ps3. Last time I checked 99% of ps3 owners used a tv that's not their primary computer monitor to play on.
Atari did the same thing with cryptic studios and startrek…..

Actually it's a semi-open beta. You need PS+ to get in so not really open beta but not really closed beta.
I hope they at least release all those features marked Soon™ before a live release.
There's plenty of meat left to test. Right now its just Dust Lite
