People dont realize once your a Ranger how hard they make it on you to go from Option 40 to just get permission to try out, where as I should have 18xray`d it straight off then I think, I would have spent most my years as a ODA. Of course 18x was a failure because they didnt have exp, but every guy and his brother in the Rangers wants Q course.

i must admit that i was already a little wary of fakres because a couple of weeks ago I had gotten into an argument with a guy in a channel who was telling silly ass chest-beating stories about killing 40 guys as the "platoon medic sniper" – who later couldn't identify a single weapon he carried "because he only cared about the kills" and, when i asked if it was the ".50 cal M24 barret (lol)" he confirmed. then, friday night at a bar in atlanta, some guy approached me and a buddy wanted to tell his war stories about "jumping into Grenada" with "1st Platoon of the 101st" – so there are weirdos everywhere. I saw your post and I was like "god damn, what is going on?!" So, hopefully it might be understandable why I was quick to jump on you. But you have my apologies – i never really pay much attention to who the big posters are, and I realize you're pretty established here.
As to my own background, i'm a fairly standard light infantry officer (11A) – we had a bit of a weird arrangement in Afghanistan, I ran a platoon COP with an ODA living there and some other random nationalities and assets (IEDs were so bad that for a while we had our own Navy EOD team lol). The ODA's mission there was actually VSO, but after the assistant team chief lost his legs in an IED, everything changed dramatically – as in that night there was a good combined 80+ man element from TF landing and rolling out to go get revenge. after that they pretty much switched to DA and i think back to VSO after we left.
SF was something I had been wanting to do for a while, but the officer side for applications is a little bit different – where I was was remote enough that our internet was out for months at a time and I didn't bother checking it, and wasn't until I was back that i realized that my year group's window had closed. but 7 or 8 buddies from my battalion went to selection and 6 (i think) got picked up and are all still in the Q course.
since then, I started the family with the wife and kid and priorities/aspirations changed, but it's definitely something I still regret not doing.
So my experience with SF is really limited to an uncle, my buddies in the Q course, and the one team we were with, but every person I've met associated with that organization has been cool as shit. but they talked mad shit about the 3rd Group guys replacing them, so i'm sure it's as varied as everywhere else

Man you were in the shit, VSO [Village Stability Ops] for others are really hard because you cant trust anyone and it makes total sense why you were all bunking together.
I was gonna say you sounded like an officer, SF is SOOOOOO hard to go in as an officer. Remember there is 1-2 of you per 40-50 men in ODC`s and the odds go up and up if you ever wanna see any action.
TBH with your resume you will be making high 6 figures if you get in the Private side doing easier jobs staying with better accommodations.
I have no wife no kids and TBH the grass is always greener, sure I got excellent training, but you cant out any price on a loving family.

I have no real reason to doubt you're in a bat, and maybe you felt you had to step in to defend a fellow ranger, and that's great…. but i'd be a little wary of this guy. everything he has said so far sounds like something ripped from a chuck norris movie or bad fan fiction. the guy claims to have been in the army for 8 years during OEF but makes strange vietnam references, mistaking 5th group for MACV SOG and defending it with a link to a generic explanation of 5th group as the reason i'm wrong? usually the extreme defensiveness/insults/etc when someone suspects a faker is a 80% indicator of just that.

I don't doubt that Mittens is a normal human being. When people are of less proximity (meaning less known), we tend to have less sympathy for those individuals. Because there is commonality, most Eve players will probably feel sympathetic towards this loss.
While I do praise him for addressing the Vile Rat situation, the speech itself seemed to be written down. No doubt that he put thought into it, but speaking on the whim with a few notes for highlights is generally the best practice.
To me, Vile Rat was a good presence in Eve Online. Although, seeing the news of a man whose pinnacle achievements of his years of service seemed to be shadowed by his role within a video game made me a little angry. Perhaps it was just the way the news channels conveyed this information. To us, this is the only way in which we knew him, so it is tangible for us to express our condolences as such. Sean Smith, father, husband, in service to his country will be how I remember him. In parallel, Vile Rat – diplomatic dick of Goonswarm, enemy of ROL. He will be missed.

Also if a guy cant fit a correct fit or he is rushed while we have a tiny window he doesnt come, this seperates GSF/CFC and Dotbros, we will take smaller numbers but more prepared ones and that counts for 3 unprepared easily.
This is what attracted me to Cry Havoc then NCDOT to begin with, TBH Cry Havoc was the best that ever existed in Eve, I love PL [Seeing as 1/3rd of them were CH, Elise, Carbon,Viper and all Habit] but CH was the begining of the "Special Forces/Spartans of Eve" along with RnK etc but we also did heavy ops in 00 sec and Held lower Pure Blind with 45k badguys 8 jumps away at p-2 monkey island etc
Really guys anyone who wants to learn PVP for real and wants to learn what its all about and learn to FC by listening I would encourage to join DotBros, you will need a Alt to make ISK for SC`s etc but ships are covered and reall ywe dont lose many. But after you are NCDOT there is no one in Eve who wont take you on the spot, except maybe PL who will take you if you pulled your weight in NCDOT, but for most 99.9% of corps in Eve just being in NCDOT is insta acceptance.
And guys like Drunk,Darkside,RnK etc and other elites come join us fight, they are very fun fights and we share FC`s between our small but growing Bro-Hood.
Also anyone who wants to up your game with 1500+ Kills come Drop in Apps at NCDOT, Total Mayhem is great and smaller corp with great fighters, RA, BN,DOOM,Burn Eden etc are always the ones who get apps but realize the smaller groups will give better chances and are every bit as good they just dont have 200-300 members or the famous FC`s, but we all have 98% K/B with ships not buildings. Give it a try be a spartan today
