Battle Report: Saturdays of Thunder – GSF hot-drop goes awry
During the late Saturday night Thorn Syndicate, The Jagged Alliance and Tribal Band, backed up by a few Pandemic Legion and TEST alliance members were busying themselves with a left over Nulli Secunda tower in the QY1E-N solar system in Querious.
Unbeknownst to them, a few GoonSwarm Federation members watched as the Thorn carriers cynoed in and dropped fighter on the structure. Seeing all this, they thought to themselves: “Hot Drop Time!”
Zungen from GoonSwarm Federation (known for running more than a handful of chars at the same time) leads the pack by jumping in a Nyx super carrier and tackles a Thorn alliance Dreadnought. Thorn’s FC, MatthewMN immediately calls for bubbles and bumps the super capital.
A frantic struggle to keep repairs on the Super-Capital’s target and pings go out like crazy on The Jagged Alliance and Tribal Bands comms for reinforcement as the Nyx barely tanks the Thorn’s fleet DPS.
Almost Fifteen minuted passed when another cyno goes up and two other GoonSwarm Federation Thanatos pour in, along a handful of small sub-capital ships. The DPS switched to the newly arrived Carriers which go down fairly quickly:
A Shakespearean dilema ensued on the Pandemic Legion and TEST alliance ships, to shoot or not to shoot, that’s it the question which clouded their minds. Eventually obedience kicked in and one of the TEST alliance scimmies started repping the Nyx, which prompted the Thorn FC to call it primary:
As the fleet continue to attempt to break the Nyx’s tank, the dread Zungen had initially tackled manage to get out of range and warp away in low structure:
With a sigh of relief and further reinforcements arriving MatthewMN goes for gold:
It is worth mentioning that Against All Authorities tried to rally a fleet to get in the killmail, due to a slow form up they weren’t able to get in the kill, so a while after the Nyx went down they arrived with an Oracle fleet and snagged a Thorn alliance carrier kill.
tensions between goons and test may go up after this.
So yeah after about 25 mins nyx dead, 2x thannys dead, and a cloaky camper that has anoyed people in Delve for the past 2 yrs dead.

So THORN Alliance decided to throw a few dreads (the exact number was five dreads – a bit shy of a dozen) onto an offline tower in one of our systems – it was just routine housekeeping of the moons, nothing more. I guess Zungen decided it’d be fun to drive by in his Nyx for a dread kill. I can only imagine he didn’t expect the response that he received from the non-blue HBC members. And just to clarify – the Nyx wasn’t aligned because we bumped the crap out of him as soon as he jumped in.
At first we were not sure if they had more supers and capitals waiting, so we actually pulled our dreads off the field to be safe. All but one dread got out right away. The remaining dread was tackled by the Nyx and honestly the pilot thought he was dead. But we proceded to bump the Nyx further away, biting our nails as the dread slowly moved out of point range. The FC (MatthewMN) had us bump the dread a few times and while it was knocked off of alignment, we probably saved it by helping put some more range between it and the supercarrier. The dread finally warped out in 12% structure, and the Nyx continued to be bumped and was bubbled within seconds.
Just as we dropped in our Archons (at this point it was pretty clear that there was no fear of escalation) to help grind the beast down, Zungan had two triage thannies come in to help save the Nyx. By that time however we had pinged Tribal Band and the fleet rose to 100 member. The carriers melted quickly and proceded to kill the Nyx. A handful of Test showed up, but they sat it out once they saw what was going down. Props to them for letting us have our day.
In the end the tally came to two Thannies and a Nyx in exchange for a couple of support ships, as well as the Chimera that died to -A- after the fight was over. It was good times – and a good chance for the non-PL, non-Test members of the HBC to bond a bit and establish a litttle distinctiveness.

If there’s one thing THORN knows how to do it tackle supers. He couldn’t warp because we were bumping him out of alignment from the second we landed.
We got him tackled and started calling for DPS. More HICs and DICs arrived, and he cynoed in the “Oh SHIT!” fleet of 2 triage Thannies to try to save his Nyx. We managed to kill the bailout fleet as our backup DPS (HBC members not blue to Goons) arrived. We topped out at about 105 people altogether. And finally the inevitable happened. The Nyx died.
Eve-kill is down atm, so no battle report, but we killed a Nyx, 2 Thannies, 2 Rapiers, Falcon, Vaga and I THINK a Sabre.
Good drop attempt. A ballsy move, although foolish one.

Your pics are broken. but TEST did not get involved because it was in our space, Goons started it, and THORN and Goons are not blue. So they sat on the sidelines (mostly) watching knowing that one side was about to die that they could whore on the mails of.

The lone TEST scimi that starting assisting the Nyx did it of his own accord. And it was ONE scimi, not multiple. Fleet members saw that and killed it. The FC didn't call any blue primary.

And I was genuinely curious about how the "other site" would spin the story. It's a propaganda tool, so I was waiting to see how they would interpret events. Surprisingly, their actual details of the incident itself were far more accurate. The direct quotes from Zungen were very skewed as he was trying to save face and cover up the multitude of mistakes he made in his hotdrop. And of course, the biography of the Zungen Army at the end was nothing but Goonsturbation to try to minimize the significance of the loss. But the actual reporting on the sequence of events is actually spot on.
Sorry Riverini, I've always stood by you, but the multitude of glaring errors in this report, compeletely flawed sequence of events, and the fact that after all this time you still haven't made a differentiation between THORN Alliance and THORN Syndicate put this story far under the version of your competitors'.

See, that's funny, because I know for a fact that TEST and PL are still +10 with goons. This might endanger their blue standing and truly set them as neutral. As for HBC pets, it's kinda understood that they'd be neutral. Pets are always neutral.

Seriously though, we (THORN) were cleaning up old offline POSes in our constellation. We were doing this alone without any help. Not sure where the story of us, Tribal, TJA and PL originated. We knew we were being setup for some kind of a trap. We didn't expect a Nyx though. We had all dreads out except 1 that was still a bit low on cap when the Nyx jumped in. Our other allies showed up after we had the Nyx tackled and well into armor. They started arriving just as the triage Thannies were jumped in to try to save the Nyx.
And also, no one called any TEST members primary. Fleet members took it upon themselves to shoot anyone trying to rep the Nyx. Not that it would have mattered though with the DPS that we had on field. It's kind of funny to see a few TEST members whored on the kill though. lol TEST members were told by their chain of command to stay out of it and not participate in any way, which is the way it should be considering standings.
So there we have it – the first supercapital kill between HBC and CFC, and HBC takes this win.
So, what's this about the HBC being Goon pets?
He left to DOTBROS as part laugh and in hopes we can work together…..From what I have seen Thorn has gained massive credit from us DOT guys, not just this this is nothing but fighting huge blobes with small numbers like us and doing very well almost everytime….Man If you guys came north it might tip the scales….

As it sits there 9k GSF Alli alone is larger than our entire coalition and there coalition is 50k+ but out of all that they can only produce 1200 tops, meaning the rest are ratting and mining…..If we had allies enough to regularly fight a 250 man fleet [since we all know 2:1 is a sure DOTbro victory and 3:1 is a 60/40 DOtbro victory] we could all be splitting up there Tec…..For all you badass smaller allies like thorn forget the south come and grab you some Tec and kill some zombies.

Test is a Goon pet, your coalition(HBC) is Test pets, the standings reset and this event shows that, goons will farm killmails of Test pets, and Test will watch it happen. What you have done, and will continue to do for Test is not relevant. I'm not sure why you can't understand that.

(a) Not do anything, and let the two fight it out.
(b) Help the dude in your coalition.
Well you do none of the above of course, you try and help the SC of the coalition that you are not apart of anymore(lol?), and that was trying to farm cap kills off your coalition.
Test will not even stand by there own coalition members, not only will they not stand by them, they will actively help those that are trying to kill their cap fleet. Must be nice to be able to choose when you'll help your coalition mates, and when you will actively work against them, I mean what are friends for…. amirite?
Apparently your reading comprehension skills need work. Only ONE TEST guy tried repairing the Nyx. A jabber ping went out telling TEST to NOT get involved in any way – your choice (a), which is exactly what they did.
So there was no Test ping to help their coalition mates being hotdropped? I can see how that is a great call…
