What follows is a battle report from a Black Legion. pilot who “Was There” – enjoy the reading:
Dotbros, Nulli & IRC vs The Deklein Coalition – 42XJ-N brawl
The war against Goons has started to get ~serious~, with some systems in Tribute starting to have their sovereignty threatened. That was the premise for the start of this nights op. Well, that and Elo promised cap kills, as Goons were reffing things with caps and an 80man support fleet. Some cat and mouse was played in the 03C-SU constellation as DotBros bridged in around 160 man AHAC fleet in an attempt to catch some caps, and then kill them.
Things didn’t quite go that way, and the DotBros ended up bridging back to H-W9TY and then rebridging to Venal for a C0NVICTED Dysprosium moon coming out of reinforce in 42XJ-N.
The hope was a brawl would happen and MAYBE we’d get this moon. (This moon has been the sight of quite a few brawls between DotBros and Goons). The AHAC fleet entered system first, followed shortly by an Intrepid Crossing support fleet of Muninns. Pings were made, warpins were adjusted, and probes were set in preparation of the Goon coming to save the tower.
A Rifter played around near the edge of the pos shields and was the focus of some interceptors, as the general consensus was that this ship was one of the cyno ships that would be used to get Goons into the system. More cat and mouse as the AHACS moved around the system, eventually to the G9D gate when word of an approaching Drake fleet was received.
Then the cynos went up.
Two simultaneous cynos were opened on a tower: one used to bridge in a Maelstrom blob, the other to bridge in tracking dreads/carriers.
Why Goons brought tracking dreads to an AHAC brawl is confusing at best. One cyno Falcon was killed, and the fight, it seemed, was on.
DotBros warped out, then quickly warped in to get better positioning both on the Maelstroms and the caps. Capital ships were primaried first, with a Moros and 2 Chimeras quickly erased from the field. The focus then shifted to the Huginns that were on field. Once sufficient numbers of Huginns/Lachesis/Scorpions were dead, the AHACS repositioned on top of the Maelstrom fleet.
Bubbles went up and a Turkey Shoot commenced. The Maelstroms no longer much of a problem, the Drake fleet was then targeted by the DOTBros. Even as the Goons tried to skirt the range of the AHACS, ships were being killed at a solid pace.
Vily was webbed and pointed and eventually blapped as the rest of the Drake fleet microwarpdrived out of the range of the AHACS. At this point, with their FC dead and DBRB having to take over this fleet (he was fcing the Maels, but was killed) the Goon drakes began disengaging and began to warp off.
DotBros very convincingly held the field, even replacing the tower with their own though it is already reinforced.

IRC has stood down for now after a fairly good showing in our new Muninn fleet along with members in the ahac fleet. Went in to take down the tower and around 1/4 armour we warp to a gate(cant remember which) when all of the sudden 2 cynos pop up we warp to cyno and our fc decides that we were teh only ones on field cuz he couldnt see the ahacs below us so we warp off, woops, but then we warp back in. We get onto a dread and 2 carriers at teh pos and then warp back out because were too close. The muninns are warping in and out while the ahacs are demolishing the mael fleet. We get a couple of kills here and there warping between planets and back in and out. One of the warps closer to the end put us all ontop of the drake fleet at 0, bubble goes up fc says just get out of the bubble and warp. Seems like ahacs cleaned up pretty handily after IRC bomber run because next thing i know were on the pos and its at 75% armour. We kill it and run back to ebyos cuz were lazy and 2 hours is a long op for us i guess
tbh the whole fight was a blur and i shoulda died like 3 or 4 different times but was good fun.

Great Fight CFC thank you for making my Sunday evening fun filled and exiting.
The best part of the whole fight is when Elo says someone web Villy so we can kill him later. After trying he caught reps, tbh he tanked better then the carriers we killed earlier in the fight we swapped off and back to him only when we started to run out of targets we could even lock. The drakes did a fairly good job of keeping us at range but boat warped in on us at 0 more then once which I did not understand.

Every time they (the CFC) assemble the blob the dotbros can't do much, but to watch at a bunch of angry goons vandalize. It's the inbetween the CFC get raped. The inbetween when CFC only have a 3:1 advantage. Most of the fights are inbetween the major CTA's.
CFC is starting to get frustrated because their usual tactics doesn't work in Tribute. They're afraid to send in dreads and carriers to reinforce and mop-up like they usually does. Every time they send out a "small" fleet of 150-300 dudes to do some simple enough task, they get raped by a fleet half their size. I am also wondering about how long it will take until they have to increase their numbers. This war is clearly not working out as they intended.

CFC can't really increase the numbers without calling in TEST and co, which would leave the south vulnerable to a-.

TEST has'nt taken a single region without being in the CFC so no one can see the point they are trying to make by calling themselves the HBC.
HBC broke ties with the CFC weeks ago and both have reset many of each others smaller member alliances. Perhaps if you read all of the news on this site instead of just the articles in which your side wins, you would have known this already.
they've been doing well in tribute because we didn't do that much in tribute, until now. in case you didn't noticed, we were busy taking over every tech moon and a shitton of other stuff that NC. held in venal. the fun for tribute is only beginning

thing is, we don't mind welping fleets. DBRB has welped at least ten fleets where i participated, and still i always try to get into his fleets, because it's fun. and if i lose a hundred ships to bomber runs, AHACs and sniping T3-BCs, i'd still join up and throw myself in the fray anytime.

Actually the decision is more likely to be to decomission the AlphaFleet doctrine and make TenguAlphaFleet the main one. As for the fleet welping – I never had any problems with losing ships on CFC fleets – they get reimbursed and you don't have to fly home or stay until the end of the fleet. That's good enough for me (although I'm certain your opinion will be the exact opposite
).

This battle was a clusterfuck for the CFC and the welping of a maelstrom fleet was IMHO not the best expenditure of resources. But then I am a simple foot soldier in a very large coalition. Confirming Boat's fleet warps were fucked the entire battle and were the primary reason for the entire alpha fleet getting whelped. That and his target calling was non-existent. On the plus side though, it was nice to see myself as one of the last maelstroms to go down. Can't believe I survived that long.
Despite all the progress goons have made this year, it's blindingly obvious that pilot-for-pilot they are still inferior to just about any other major alliance.
