Lost a carrier? Why So Seri0Us?
Events like the one reported from the morning of August 18th would wipe the smile out of anyone’s face, as the folks of WHY so Seri0Us attest with loud voices in their chat channels. A local source tells us that the normally quiet and safe system of GRHS-B got a rude lesson about the less gentlemanly ways of effecting combat in New Eden. Although some might argue that it’s no less well mannered to camp a gate or ransom a ship, the heart of Wicked Creek has been having cloacky campers (also known as cloacky f**s) sitting in their systems for several days now.
Apparently after a while the locals must have stopped noticing the camper, particularly since he was from Ethereal Dawn and everyone knows how harmless they are! However it takes a special kind of genius to take a 2 billion ISK ship out on a ratting run in an anomaly while some bastard is camping your system in a cloaked ship!
Sources tell us that somewhere around 0300 Eve time, character Christanzaa of Hounds of War corporation was ‘peacefully minding her own business’ in an anomaly, blissfully unaware that she was being observed by the ED cloacker only a few kilometers away. The fleet of stealth bombers waiting behind the as yet unlit Cyno was undecided whether to attack this juicy target or not; the ratting Thanatos had a Drake with her that could complicate matters, particularly in a station system with over 30 people in it. However the ratting gods were unkind to Christanzaa, or maybe she’s too much of a noob and can’t dual-box properly and the rats killed her Drake. Naturally, the waiting Black-ops gang literally jumped at the chance.
Quickly webbed, pointed and target painted (why target paint something that’s already the size of a space station is beyond me) the Thanatos began to bleed hit points. Clearly it did not help that, having lost the Drake, the whole anomaly was attacking the carrier. Help arrived quickly; an alliance mate named Amar warped in with a Hurricane and started hitting the bombers with auto-canons. But the ED weasels had thought of such things in advance and jumped their Black-ops ships along with the bombers, including a Widow which quickly and quietly shut the Cane down, allowing the hot-droppers to quickly blow it up and resume their carrier rape.
The Thanatos died a glorious death and joined the Hurricane in the scrapyard.
A member of Ethereal Dawn who asked to remain anonymous said “We love this sort of thing, it’s what we’re good at! The only pity is that with the system riled up and local starting to burst with angry comments we were unwilling to risk looting the carrier wreck. So we just blew it up; there were no special mods in it anyway.”
More Seri0Us tears…
Although at the time of writing there was no one to comment from Why So Seri0Us this writer is pretty sure the denizens of GRHS-B must have been furious. However digging into Eve-Kill shows that the story does not end there. The BlackOps gang undoubtedly dispersed and after a few minutes must have left the system, as is normal in these kinds of operations. Whether WHYSO mounted a defense fleet to try to find them and hunt them down is unknown, but they got caught again in the very same system not two hours after the carrier was burnt to a crisp.
A Nighthawk command ship, a Helios (of all things) and a Purifier fell victims to the same gang or members thereof. Asking around I was told that the ED scout found the Helios sitting idly by a gate and killed it, then the Purifier responded and before it was blown up, the Nighthawk piloted by Belchup arrived to help his friends. According to the killboards, Luminous Spirit finished off the Amarrian bomber with his Saber, held the Nighthawk long enough to light a Cyno and call in his gang to finish the job and survived to return home with his friends. Not bad.
Either ED are hot-droppers with mad skills or WHYSO are just a bunch of care bear n00bs. It’s frankly difficult to tell from just a biased battle report and some Eve-Kill.net graphics. One thing I do know for sure is that loosing 2,634,619,537 ISK in the space of two hours is enough to put a bad feeling in anyone’s day.
