A DekCo insider brings us his after thoughts on the recently finished Delve War.
Delve War: It’s was all just a Big Joke!
I feel like the comedian in watchmen saying its all just a big joke!
It starts with a debated point where TEST Alliance goes south just for the kicks and laughs. It wasn’t because Red Alliance’s newly taken systems were ripe for the taking, of course not!
Nulli Secunda (S2N) had something to say about this TEST incursion the same way it did about the RA install in delve. Ignoring the whole point of who is useless in PVP, the fact of the matter is that in Delve S2N had logistics, backup and strength. TEST needed leverage against this to even the odds and so in comes Pandemic Legion.
Why the good fights and sovless skirmish needs a super cap fleet backing it up is beyond me and PL coming in really threw that argument to the dogs. Sov was now being taken and the scales started to shift.
S2N held its own quite well and managed to stave off most sov taking attempts staging itself and its allies from the C3N-3S homebase. The spearhead backed by Period Basis makes for a very strong base camp and that was obvious when PL started dropping super caps into every little skirmish engagement it could find.
And then it gets messy! S2N cannot go against super cap power and Against All Authorities goes to the rescue. The thing is that TESTs GOON parents have a standing chip on their shoulder against 3A and learning of its involvement threw them into a fit.
The Mitani’s argument of pre-emptive strike goes against its own definition of SoCo’s capacity. Basically he claims the inhabitants of the south are flies and AAA is a villainous and treacherous monkey. Stating that the flies being lead by the monkey could become a threat to us is weird to say the least.
So GOONs were tired of the monkey’s jokes and saw this as a perfect opportunity to teach him some manners. Mitani expected an attrition war where CFC would eventually emerge victorious and claim the south creating a massive western block.
What happened was surely a surprise for the many. It was read by biased views as a landslide victory for the CFC. They crushed, wiped and claimed the south in just a two weeks but some of us know better.
AAA wasn’t the least bit interested in fighting a sov war or helping ther allies retain their territory. It made perfect sense for them to deploy in 319-3D so they could harass the CFC in the close by base o f 1DH.
CFC read the situation as S2N & friends would deploy from C3N and create a pocket zone where they would slowly take the SoCo down. That was the point of deploying a new base making a strong defense on the north of delve and wearing down the south while conquering the inside with impunity.
Well, everyone made the mistake of assuming AAA’s intentions. The rest of SoCo decided to move everything to 319-3D making a strong attacking force against CFC’s main base while leaving the south and Period Basis undefended. This was done with the correct understanding that it would take a long time for the CFC to advance there. All good and jolly but assumption is the mother of all fuckups.
SoCo’s home advantage with strength of logistics and backup was completely thrown to the wind by moving to 319-3D. The move was deficient to say the least and done in the most chaotic and disorganized manner possible. The operation took a brutal week to complete in which the SoCo lacked strength everywhere as stuff was being moved, replaced and reinforced. What is even worse is that without a lack of communication and channels between organizations, the little people saw this 319-3D move as a call for a massive exodus and treated it as such.
At the end of the week C3N was taken and Period Basis was wide open. SoCo found itself with nothing in place to defend PB as they had moved everything out and a useless attacking force in 319-3D. The whole SoCo’s idea of blitzing and shocking got denied by the slow logistics move. With everything fucked up by the move, the strength present in 319-3D was a depleted a pale shadow of its former self.
AAA never intended to put its balls on the chopping block for delve and so never risked anything waiting for those who really had stuff to lose to put their balls forward. The thing is that S2N really didn’t care that much about this sov either or at least not enough to incur heavy losses by defending it at a disadvantage. Meanwhile other organizations like VERA had been trying to rid themselves of their carebear population with absurd mandatory corporation goals as high as 400 kills/month. Losing sov meant that all the carebears would be swept away so happy faces.
And this is how SoCo simply looked at the situation and said fuck it all, let them take it. Querious fell shortly after and PB was taken unopposed as its inhabitants simply left.
Who won? GOON’s pets got a lot of sov to carebear in. Who lost? The carebears of the SoCo and surprisingly a lot of TEST members who were bankrupted by the war as its SRP didn’t work exactly as advertised.
In conclusion AAA couldn’t be happier, S2N is cool as a cucumber, TEST’s pilots are finding their wallets depleted and their ratting space camped. GOONs and their pets roll around in war spoils like scrooge!
It’s was all just a big joke!
