In a attempt to destroy Intrepid Crossing’s SBU’s in WNM-V0. Soldiers of New Eve dropped supers with the Intrepid Crossing and allies fleet just two systems over winding down from doing some of their own bashing.
Regarding that SONE Aeon Downed in the Dronelands last Friday
The IRC fleet received the intel and the fleet was inbound to the target destination. Many of the SONE supers managed to escape as local spiked but a lone Aeon was pointed so the SONE Tengu fleet stayed on the field to support the tackled super. As the super started to go into armor a Black Legion super fleet arrived on the field to help take down the Aeon. 8shock the tackled Aeon pilot initiated self destruct at 40% armor but could not escape the kill mail.
Recent Intel from the latest news coming out of the ongoing war in the Dronelands. Intrepid Crossing and allies have downed a Soldiers of New Eve super in The Kalevala Expanse last Friday.
LShock loses an Aeon
In WNM-V0 just minutes ago, LShock’s alt, 8Shock, found himself tackled in his Aeon.
With no chance of escape, and the loss of his supercarrier guaranteed, Aeon hit the self-destruct button to avoid a loss on the killboard.
His capsule, however, was promptly killed the moment after his Aeon self-destructed:
SONE, as they always do, tried to portray the loss as a victory in local:

IRC and allies (Etherium Dawn, PNG, etc) just downed an SONE Aeon in the drone regions war, with some last minute assist from Black Legion.
IRC had just stood down from yet another CTA in our ongoing war to evict SONE from Kalevala, when these messages started coming in over jabber:

SONE had, as usual, dropped supers to speed up killing our sbu’s. But this time their support fleet looked a little…thin.
IRC senior FC Bobbi Atwell sprang into action. His own words from Kugu:
So basically I saw them on the field with tengus without logis and with their supers. Seeing a chance to kill some tengus I formed up a cane/muninn/logi fleet while they munched on the remaining 3 sbus in wnm. When we had about 50 dudes in fleet we set out.
SONE had a forward scout 2 jumps out of our system and saw us then but no scout next door so we were able to get ready and briefed on the gate without them knowing we were there. We jump in, warp to my alt at 100 as all except 1 of their supers warp off. Bubbles dropped, and we started shooting him. They warped in once and shot some of our dictors but we forced them back off field.
At about 70% armor Black Legion. jumped in with some supers to help us finish it off. It self destructed at 40% armor.
We were a little sad to only get the pod killmail, but still very happy to have been part of making the Aeon take its own life. The pilot was 8shock, believed to be an alt of senior SONE guy LShock.
Morale was already pretty high on comms post fight, when all of a sudden, someone said they saw the actual Aeon kill on Black Legion.’s board! Smug satisfaction boiled over into backslapping celebration. The mail looked a little weird, but the guess is that the new loss reports generated by self-destructs don’t parse right on killboards yet.
Needless to say, this doesn’t bode well for SONE’s defense against ED, PNG, IRC and allies.

I think Rivs is referring the the change by CCP. To be fair, while I know this has been discussed, I myself have not seen a devblog or patch note confirming this change. If anyone can link it would be appreciated. To be honest, we were all surprised when the API verified mail appeared on various kill boards.

I tried that last night with an atron which was aggressed with a point and got nothing. This may be related strictly to caps, which makes testing a bit more costly. Perhaps OTEC can do a live fire test to confirm?
We were doing it on SISI and it worked. Not sure what the parameters are. Will have to play around with it later.

It works. Self Destructs give killmails. They are usually a bit wonky, with some modules missing, but they do give killmails to the last person who shoots the ship.
Yea CCP said they still would not drop modules as well as not show full fits. They were only going to show partial fits.
Considering I have seen 2 to 3 supers with this shown I am thinking it may be supers or capitals in general only. I have been wrong before though

Self destruct mails are a bit buggy, but they do exist now. Modules don't all show up. Known bug. Hell of a lot better than the days of SD;no mail though, so I'm willing to look over the bugs.
That said, I just tried it with a frigate and it didn't work at all.
