As the dust settles on Jita, seemingly little had changed in the massive market hub.  Despite hundreds of billions of isk destroyed in a few days, the hub remains.  The only remnants of the massive wave of destruction being elevated prices for Tornadoes, Thrashers, and Freighters:

Tornado
Thrasher
Charon

Scandium

While we’re looking at market info, here’s a couple of other fun graphs from Jita.  It seems someone cornered the market of Scandium in March.  Around March 10th, someone (or a consortium) bought up a large quantity of Scandium in a short period of time.  Volume went through the roof before they began putting the commodity back on the market at inflated prices.  In early April, the price toppled.  Based on the volumes involved, it looks like they were successful in emptying their inventory before supply-side forces corrected the market.

Another fun one to talk about is, obviously, Technetium.  Around April 10th, there was an increase in volume on the market, followed by a slow, steady increase in price for tech.  About two weeks later, The Mittani announced:

My finance team is colluding with our former enemies to smash the price of tech past 200k. #tweetfleet#eveonline#firstgalaxyproblems

Announcing OTEC: Organization of Technetium Exporting Corporations – Ensuring Galactic Supply! #tweetfleet #eveonline

Technetium

The price was already on the rise, but if you look at the daily spread, you can see that the price bubble was flagging.  With these two tweets, The Mittani pushed the price up again.  He later claimed that it had been a bluff, but it was so successful that he has since entered talks with several of the other major players in the Technetium market to follow through with this threat/promise.  Of course, it is difficult to know when the trolls end and the truth begins, so we can only wait and see what happens with the market.  With the share of the technetium moons the CFC holds, The Mittani does, indeed, have the power to heavily influence the price of technetium.  If he can get a couple other alliances to follow his lead, the price could easily skyrocket.

So, on the heels of all of these market forces, what we really need to throw the market into a rollercoaster is hitting the rest of the base commodities.

ENTER HULKAGEDDON

Helicity opened up Hulkageddon 5 on the 29th.  Here is the official site, so you can keep up on the event.  It started on the tail end of Burn Jita, and the technetium thing.  With Jita over, the CFC gank crew has begun moving out of Jita and into the high sec belts, in search of hulks-of-opportunity.  The event is drawing even more interest than previous years.  Poetic is even getting in some ganks.  In the day that it has been running, it has broken 100b isk of miner tears already, according to eve-kill.  334 Hulks dead and counting.  That said, one kill deserves a special mention.

3.6 billion isk worth of dead hulk goodness.

Yep, that’s a Pithum A-type invuln on there as well as a Pithum A-type small shield booster.  With a Pithum A-type EM ward to top off the deadspace tank on that thing.  Despite all the bling, it looks like it died in short order.  All that to mine Pyroxeres.  Nice kill to superducky and (possible his alt) Karma Reid.  Whether you are mining, ganking, or playing the market, it looks like this week will be a wild ride.

the increase in the graph happened because of mineral price increase.

for a real graph look at gyrostabilizer II on 5/10 days

The price was speculation. Drone minerals, Burn Jita, Hulkageddon, etc… they all played a role in pushing mineral prices higher the past few weeks. However, Tornadoes, Thrashers, and Freighters (specifically the Charon and Obelisk) saw a much more dramatic rise in price than other T1 items.

What! No the drone poo, and the removal of meta 0 from the loot pool had nothing to do the the price rise, it was all the CFC!!!

Ok, to sum it up – some minerals gone up, some ships got more expensive, big deal.
Market will go back to normal state pretty soon – as noone in their good sense will over-pay for tornado, if they can fly other reasonably cheap ships, same with minerals. Imagine if noone buy a single technecium in two weeks, Goons will starve to death )) Nothing personal.

Problem is that isn't going to happen. Empires have to function regardless of the price of an item. While the price wouldn't be able to rise say 100% in a day . . . the market would accept that 100% rise over say 3 months. Tech and mineral prices are going to rise . . . it is only a question of how much.

People create a demand. Alliances may require to fly particular ship format in fleets/cta's. Unless you spend 24/7 in game, you may think twice to fly 200+ mil worth Maelstorm for 5 minutes of fun and then spend 3+ hours carebearing. When was the last time you saw a big BS fleet in null/low? I been pvp'ing in many systems and less and less people eager to engage (unless at undocks), and more people fly cheap stuff….coinsidence? I guess not.

lol . . . CFC usually have 2 full fleets of Maelstroms. PL flies Rokhs, Nulli flies Geddons, and NCdot and a crapton of others still flies around in Hellcats. And to stack on top of all that . . . Tengus are becoming the flavor of the month with -A-, NCdot, PL and even CFC(new doctrine set to come) flying them and those are going for 550m+ per ship. So what were you talking about again Alex ?

"becoming" the flavor of the month? Tengus have pretty much been the bread and butter of elite PvP nullsec entities for a long time now.

            May 1, 2012 at 1:56 am
          2. Scar

When I say becoming I'm referring to alliances that are typically not seen as "Elite PvP" adopting a Tengu doctrine.

Yeah, I doubt a boycott of Tech will succeed.
Just like real life OPEC they raise the rates of oil.. it raises the price of oil. Some may cut back their purchaseing, but someone will buy it at the elevated price. To make matters worse, the Tech Moon holders can just sit on their stockpiles – use what they need for their own construction projects and let everyone else fall behind in hull stockpiles or direct sale the hulls while rival suppliers starve on the bottleneck or get Wal-marted out of profits on the margins.

There is always sport in shooting everything. You sound like the kinda player that loses then cries about being blobed, hotdropped, etc. Let me give you abit of advice that will go a long way in Eve and in real life. Rarely is there anything that involves humans in competition fair or "sporting". I'd say about 5% of all fights I've ever fought in eve are fair or sporting. Usually it was me ganking someone or someone ganking/blobing/hotdropping me. You learn and do better the next time . . . crying helps no one but your enemy . . . who wets his mouth on your deliciously salty tears.

People need to stop having such hurt butts over Hulkageddon. Sure you lose some ISK not being able to suck up roids, so what? Get in an Iteron and haul some over priced minerals from system to system. Fill your queue with that 10 day skill you've been meaning to train and go outside. When it's all over, mineral prices will be through the roof and you'll make it all up. The less you mine (and whine) during Hulkageddon, the more money you'll make when it's over.
