Recent comments by CSM Chair Alexander ‘The Mittani’ Gianturco at the CCP Fanfest have ignited a firestorm of complaints on the Eve Online forums and there have been several stories in the gaming media about the incident. During the Alliance leader presentation, Mittani related a story and posted correspondence from a player who was emotionally distressed and who had mentioned suicide. “Incidentally, if you want to make the guy kill himself, his name is XXXXX” Mittani said, encouraging players to taunt the guy.
If you have read about or heard Mittani’s bragging about “The Ten Thousand player mandate” or listened to him talk about ‘political capital’ and CCP/Player goodwill, then you appreciate the irony of him blowing all three in a drunken rant. This is not the first time he has shown his disdain towards players and shown his true nature as that of a bully abusing his limited power. He made personal attacks prior to the CSM race on the Eve forums and had many comments deleted. He was strangely quiet for some time thereafter. He sought to exert more influence over the CSM with what he thought was a mandate, and now has brought shame not only onto himself, the CSM in general and CCP as a whole by picking on an unfortunate guy not in a position to defend himself, and encouraging others to do the same.
CCP has allegedly launched an internal investigation and public pressure is mounting with dozens of threads on the forums and stories by Massively, Euro Gamer, Develop, The Escapist, Edge online and other sites around the web:

As players in a game, Eve players are notoriously cruel, callous and sometimes downright evil. As people in life, most eve players are good people in general. Now that the Mittani has shown himself to be petty, mean spirited, and a bully, and in all likelihood breaking the Eula, it would be best for Eve’s public image and for the communities respect of the CSM in general, if he were to step down before being removed by CCP in the event that they deem this a serious EULA breach. If CCP does remove him it will be yet another stain on our public image in the gaming community.
By removing him, CCP will show that they do indeed look after the welfare of their players and take this egregious conduct seriously. It would be unfortunate if he is removed as he has brought good things as chairman, but would be better if he were to take responsibility for his actions and show he has integrity by vacating his position on CSM 7. Should CCP allow him to remain in office it will show that they approve of, or don;t disapprove enough, to take the proper and necessary actions needed to show that we are not a community of indifferent assholes.

It does not matter if the guy was suicidal in real life. What matters is that Mittani said this in real life to an international audience, THEN had the balls to say "Deal with it" as a response to people talking about it. This kind of behavior is unacceptable period. If he has not quite the CSM by now he should be removed and banned from holding a CSM position for life.

…continuting: CCP is a company who actively encourages this sort of crappy attitude. Jita scamming, in-game theft generalized nastiness, and the biggest in-game guild being "Goonsquad.". They, also, are getting what they deserve – another PR black eye for running a game that attracts Russian mafia.
Nothing will change- Mittani will keep his seat, because, FFS, he was only elected weeks ago – they can't admit that bad a mistake, it would be worse than just covering it up. …and don't blame me; I specifically was ready to vote for *anyone* else.

If you have serious suicide feelings, there are appropriate channels to seek for help
A) The Mittani is not such a channel
B) Eve Online is not such a channel
C) Any MMO or multiplayer is not such a channel
I suspect the guy to be just a typical attention seeking whore, and if he's not he's just really stupid and/or naïve, as such he shouldn't be playing EVE in the first place.

Its unfortunate that this happened. Although i certainly agree to a ceratin extent with the people saying that "its just a game herpdiderp" there is a significant difference between expressing these sort of things in the context of the actual game and saying such things "irl" if you will. If the CSM are to be taken seriously they have to act as such. As he is visiting fanfest and talking on fanfest as a CSM member he is supposed to represent the voters in that context. I think it is fair to expect proffesionalism from the members of CSM when they are in forums where they are suposed to represent the voters. If they fail to display such proffesionalism it seems fair do expect theyre resignation as in any other political arena.

They claim a 10,000 vote mandate, but this is only credible in a 2-man race.
