When speaking about null-sec PVP is easy to overlook the Syndicate region, but the reality is Syndicate is one hell of a place if you are in the market for somee high-octane small gang pvp fights. Our very own Ripard Teg’s corporation Rote Kapelle lives there and if one night you feel like having a good fight, don’t hesitate in giving him a shout.

EF-F36. 25th February.

Rote Kapelle had received intel in advance of a possible capital fight in this system. Given time to prepare and with the knowledge of previous capital engagements Rote Kapelle came to the conclusion that this fight would most probably escalate rapidly if they chose to intervene.

Closer to the reported capital fight scouts were posted in the staging systems of any possible opposing capital fleets. These scouts confirmed the build up of Dreadnaughts belonging to the uniquely named Ninja Unicorns with Huge Horns alliance. Undeterred Rote Kapelle decided to spring the trap and fight it out.

The capital fight in EF-F36 started between Altruism and Al3x.  Rote Kapelle cynoed in an initial two Carriers and one Dreadnaught and began to attack the Al3x capitals while ignoring the ships of Altruism. As the Al3x capital entered low structure a cyno went up and hostile capitals began to jump in. The trap was sprung.

Ninja Unicorns, Infiana Elparus and Soul Takers jumped in roughly 18 Dreadnaughts, sieged and opened fire on the Rote Kapelle capitals. In response Rote Kapelle brought in the rest of their capital fleet, six Carriers, six Dreadnaughts and 2 Super Carriers along with a support fleet of battleships and heavy interdictors. Around this point of time the Alturism fleet warped off and the Al3x fleet docked up.

With the shear amount of sieged Dreadnaughts Rote Kapelles Carrier remote reps were ineffective and Capitals began to die at an alarming rate. On the Rote Kapelle side the two Super Carriers were able to inflict a large amount of damage onto the Ninja Unicorn Dreadnaughts. The fight was intense; it had become one of the now rare capital slugfests with capitals dying on both sides and no clear advantage forming for either fleet. In the middle of the fight an additional Rote Kapelle Super Carrier cynoed in to join the fray.

Altruism then undocked their capitals and re-entered the fight. It seems this additional firepower was able to tip the balance of the fight and the remaining Ninja Unicorn Dreadnaughts began to die. Some Dreadnaughts that had been bumped away in the initial jump in were able to escape. Notably one Dreadnaught, piloted by Thi0rdazin of NC. self destructed against the orders given to the fleet. At this point it is unknown as to why an NC. pilot was so far away from the rest of his alliance. I suspect he was just flying with old friends.

Video

This kind of Capital engagement is rare these days with the high number of Super Capital heavy groups ready to drop on anything bigger then a Battleship. So to see such a fight go down with relatively even sides is a refreshing sight.

Also, I find interesting to how many capitals pilot Ben Booley lost during the fight. O.o

It doesn't look like Unicorns lost 15 Dreads to me, do you mean all the losses not Rote maybe?

    2. Ben Booley is the MAN. If you listen to the video carefully, you can hear him ordering a friendly to pod him after his first capital death so he could med-clone back to TXW, re-up it, then jump back into the fight in a new capital.

Actually due to the recent dread buffs the amount of dreads ninja's had on field would have been able to melt a super or 2. Plus i think Ninja's have their own supers but didnt choose to deploy them.

Um, have you used dreads since the buff?

A cheaply fit Moros (T1 guns, T2 siege mod, T2 mids/lows) puts out 13K dps @ 25+30km with antimatter. Even the slightest bit of pimping will allow them to out-dps a Nyx. They don't have as much HP, of course, but when dropped in mass, they'll eat supers like candy.

    3. What Fawlty7 and Namamai said, plus one other comment: the field was FULL of hictors, more hictors than I've seen in a lot of sov fights (both sides over-compensated a bit). If the Alturism guys had switched sides mid-fight, this article would be about super kills.

Not to mention we knew the opposition had supercarriers and chose not to deploy them

Actually, that's close to accurate. The HORN/INFIA group lost 5 Moros, 5 Revelations, and 3 Nags — plus the NCDOT Moros that selfdestructed. (Two of their moros managed to get out due to bad bubble placement.) That's 14 dreads destroyed out of 16 fielded.

Rote lost every dread they fielded — three Moros, three Revs, and a Nag.

The main reason Rote ended up winning was that they brought the larger subcap fleet. The HORN guys bridged in five HICs, a Navythron, and a sabre, all of which died; Rote brought ~15 BSes, 10 HICs, and armor and warfare links.

Rote Kapelle has always been badass. they bring the good fights. Not so familiar with ninja unicorns as i just came back recently, but it looks like they will be fun to fight as well.

      1. Much respect for bringing the fight in expensive ships. I have never seen so many Vindicators bridged onto my head before.

my first advice is to set up a defualt orbit to 23km. Never hit the approach button you can get 1 shot. Try to point stuff the fc ask for but most the time as a inty pilot you just hang back far away from the fight till you see it's the right time to jump in.

and also if the fucking dread is in siege and you cant activate your warp disruptor, THAN AT LEAST SHOOT! its important to get on capitalkillmails
it makes no difference if you hit it or not its important to shoot at least one time.
And another point if you tackle somethig like these phobos, thats great! dont switch to tackle the primary if the fc calls some other primary just shoot at the primary and tackle something else this is what cheap ships are made for in large engagements.

  10. I was there

To think it all started when an AL3X Carrier bounced off the station when cyno'ing in. Ending up 50k from the Undock.

Then for the next 25-35min was able to slow boat at 10m/sec back to station and safely (albeit in low structure) dock. Pro effort with the reps.

Don't think anyone realised the carriers from AL3X were actually repping the RK Guys once their carrier made it back safely.

if they didn't have their supers there to mop up once all their caps died, Rote would have lost badly

So? If your fleet had no logi they'd die too. Supers aren't some kind of hax, it's a big ship meant for killing capitals and this is how ccp intended them to be used. There were 2 and 6 dreads vs 18 dreads not 200+ raiden. style. Good fight guys love reading about this shit!
