For a while, it had looked like SOLAR would tear xDeath apart. Then the Honey Badgers showed up. Despite the numbers of subcaps, supers, and competent FCs, Honey Badgers entered the fray time and time again. Honey Badgers are fearless, they don’t give a shit, they’re pretty bad ass. After a while, as predicted, SOLAR is much diminished. And, with that… it looks like the Honey Badgers are a thing of the past.
Presenting: Team Tech
Pandemic Legion, Evoks, Initiative Mercenaries, RaidenDOT, NCdot
GO VOLTRON FORCE!
Meanwhile, in the north, the Goons were trying to defend their newly acquired tech moons. Team Tech had been reinforcing Goon tech moons and on 2-2-2012, they were back to finish one off in Venal. MQFX-Q is a relatively worthless system in a dead-end pocket, except for the presence of technetium (an extremely rare, shiny, radioactive metal – the lowest atomic number element with no stable isotopes). The Goons were not going to let their tech go without a fight, however, and had formed up roughly 450 pilots in two fleets. One Maelstrom fleet and one drake fleet. Team Tech brought five fleets: 100 Init drakes, 100 Raiden tengus, 70 NCdot Rokhs/Maels, 60 PL TiDi Cats, and 30 Evoks TiDi Cats.
By agreement, no sides brought capitals or supers. When Goons arrived in system, PL’s fleet warped to the tower where the other four Team Tech fleets were waiting. After PL landed, Goons warped in. The system went into TiDi and the the brawl began. The new TiDi Cat fleet setup seemed to do well against the Mael/Drake fleets. 1-2 salvos would finish off any of the opposing ships. While the Goon Maelstroms focused on the NCdot snipers and Init drakes as targets of opportunity, the Goon drakes played cat and mouse with the TiDi Cats. A few times, the drakes were able to get warp-ins and catch a few TiDi Cats, while the rest warped off (TiDi Cats have no tank, relying on range and warp out/in points for defense). Raiden’s Tengus, while absolute beastly tanks in normal circumstances, faltered under TiDi and the extreme alpha strikes of the Maelstroms.
Despite losses, Goons continued bringing reinforcements onto the field, keeping their local count at roughly the same number the entire battle. Meanwhile, Euro time zone was winding down and Team Tech knew it was now or never. When the Goon Maelstroms warped off the field to regroup and collect their reinforcements, Team Tech switched dps to the tower. Under the combined firepower of all five fleets, the tower fell. Init quickly dropped a small tower in its place, while the Goon tower modules were removed from the field. Team Tech had a spy on Goon comms (shocking, I know), and knew that the Maelstroms were about to warp back onto the field. A well placed bubble and a good bombing run hit the Goon Maelstroms hard. Despite this, Team Tech were running out of reinforcements and Goon numbers were beginning to increase. Having properly stronted the small tower, Team Tech made a tactical withdrawl from the field before the battle went south for them. Goons reinforced the Init tower. Team Tech returned during Euro time as the tower came out of reinforce, finished off the tower, and replaced it with a large tower and the requisite moon mining gear.
Both sides claim victory from this fight. Goons won the isk war, as far as this fight is concerned by a long shot. However, Team Tech killed more ships and took the tech moon in the end. The PL FC called the operation a “major success.” On the other hand, the Goons Mittani made the following statement after the fight:
WE LOST! Our tech moon died mid-fight and was replaced by a small Init tower (which is rf’ed). We’re going to have to suffer through looting the field and consoling ourselves with the 35+ dead RDN tengus we murdered. Drakefleet worked smashingly in concert with Alphafleet, as the Drakes annihilated hostile logistics while the Alphafleet nuked the Tengus. I’m going to especially be crying myself to sleep about us sending 20+ new ships into the fight every 5 minutes due to nonstop reinforcement.

A Raiden member was quoted as saying:
Fight took about 2 hours and lots of fun was had. Was interesting to see PL/NC. joining the fight as well.
Keep ‘em coming, goonies!
Team Tech command channel had some amusing back and forth, posted here on kugu.
It looks like it was a good fight for everyone involved. Many ships died. Much fun was had. TiDi was given a solid workout and seems to have worked without a hitch. Good fight to all involved. Once again, many thanks to the devs at CCP for TiDi.
