Editor’s Note: As Eve Online is reaching a true turning point, a lot of passions will derail emotions on the way, we inaugurate this new section called “Raging View”, in it we present testosterone-heavy points of views.
The following piece was sent yesterday through our dropbox after our article detailing the standing reset between Legion of xXDEATHXx and SOLAR FLEET, is is written from very strong point of view, is meant to bring a bit more of context to the current conflict within the Drone Regions.
Raging View: On the Drone Regions.
I decided to write some words about the Drone regions after I had reading conflicting comments both in Eve News24 and other sites. I hope my history lessons will not be too boring and you will appreciate my noobish and obviously biased analysis.
The Archduke Ferdinand moment of the next Drone Regions War may have recently occurred. Which specific event is hard to say, but there have been a number of incidents recently that to many may seem isolated and of little import but any one of which may a year from now be pointed to as the spark that started it all.
To total outsiders, it appears that two inscrutable arms of the bottling monolith, the dreaded DRF, have gotten into a squabble over stolen assets and bruised egos.
To the Euro-American client state, Intrepid Crossing, the real story seems more to be about a rogue renter corp that briefly tried to form an independent alliance within Shadow space. This upstart group quickly reintegrated back into Shadow of xDeathx’s fold before IRC SBU’d their system with Legion of xXDeathXx’s blessing.
To the some schemers in the renter alliance Shadow, everything up to this point has been a series of feints and maneuvers designed to provoke Solar Fleet, Solar Wing and Intrepid Crossing into resetting them in order to attack the guerilla corp within their ranks, only to be surprised by the counter strike of the full force of the rest of the Shadow renter corps. To the leadership of Legion, the plotting of their militarily ineffectual pets in Shadow are a convenient excuse to move the non-Russian-speaking IRC out of valuable systems, so their human pilots can be replaced with Russian botters. And to UaxDeath’s good friend the Mittani, whose goons have been secretly staging out of IAMJ and other xDeathx systems, this is the thin edge of the blade that will create a second “thunderdome/freeport” space, in his bid to reshape all of eve according to his own personal theories of game design.
But what will actually come of it all is bound to defy the expectations of all involved, for in war, the future clouds up and all bets are off.
What a barrage of belt analytics! Let us talk about the IRC, an alliance of No value and vile dreams!
“two inscrutable arms of the bottling monolith, the dreaded DRF”
- I like this! Really, this sounds great. But most part of former DRF (all russians players particularly) considers DRF disbanded. I can also mention that it was disbanded the very day that WhiteNoise. reset Shadow of xXDeathXx. And no, DRF never was monolithic.
“rogue renter corp that briefly tried to form an independent alliance within Shadow space” –
Rogue? No. Briefly tried? No. Independent? Nonsense! There was never any misunderstanding between UAxDeath and Jariman. What there really was – the desire to have more war targets for a rather big corporation without creation of embarassing and potentially dangerous situations for Legion or Shadow. The goal of creation of alliance named “No value” is to give a very limited freedom to active and ambitious corp. Why limited? They still pay rent, may not attack neighbors and some other alliances and, of course, have to obey Legion’s direct orders. Not to mention that new alliance has to get the blue standing of his own.
This is most dramatic point. No Value’s diplomats (funny name, right?) send identical requests to all alliances they want to get blue plusses (IRC was not in that list, btw). Red Alliance, Bloodbound, United Pod Service, Moon tribe, Subzero, Voodoo and other drone dwellers set positive standing to No value. All who left – IRC and Solars (Solars were first to receive the request). So, while waiting the Solar’s answer, fresh “dependent” anglo-italian-russian alliance decides to do some pew-pew with IRC. Some battles follow with different outcomes. As the answer to the rightful question from IRC: “WTF?”, No Value’s leader (again, this sounds funny but in fact, it is serious) contacts IRC high command. They quickly form a gentlemen’s agreement: a) both sides are encouraged to actively “happyroam” eachother in order to keep carebears in a good shape and for fun; b) structure shooting, gatecamping, cloack ships for 24/7 and other heavy infrastructure disrupting activities are not allowed for both sides; c) standing will not be set blue, but both sides must respect each other. Some battles follow, again with different outcomes.
Meanwhile in Russia… Oh, wai… Meanwhile in 4AZV-W (Outer Passage) situation gets hotter. Some Solars also want some pew-pew. It would be great, but under very different circumstances. Let us remember, what is going on. New alliance is waiting for blue standing. New alliance sets positive standing to all future allies unilaterally – this means they are neutral from other’s point of view (sic!) New alliance is involved in “honorable war” with IRC and farms “gf” in local. Except for this war (and of course for homedefence) all No Value’s PVP activity is suspended. They do not fly to Red’s, Legion’s or Solar’s space. Of course, to get to IRC they have to fly through Solar space, but they just fly. Now tell me, in this situation, how to react to future’s ally desire to do pew-pew? Of course – let them have some fun!
The result of this pew-pew : KILLMAIL. GF and all that stuff.
But does No Value get an adequate reaction? No.
All they receive is a cloacked ship in their home system, a camped gate and somewhat bizzare reaction from Solars. No value is still fighting IRC and still waiting for the blue standing from others.
I hope, you get a good picture of what was happening. Now tell me, why, in Nine Hells, MACTEP does not set positive standing towards No value? Personally, I do not know. As I mentioned earlier, he is quite… umm… emotional after the quit of his logistics director Bigmaman and the quit of Elderans. But are you a good politician if you let your emotions affect your actions? Only if you have more raw power than anybody else in the game.
So, seeing that they do not receive positive standings from Solars in the near future, No value cease fire with IRC (attention please – this is the last time IRC is involved in this conflict) and begin to roam Solar space in hope of getting some gf. The answer to this actions is qute overpowered – a fullscale Solar fleet destroys a POS. My dear Solar friends – all we want is blue standings in the first place and some gf in second – please, do not escalate this conflict any further. But is there a rational answer? NO.
So, it turns out now that new small alliance called No value has to face one of the oldest and experienced alliance in the east of New Eden. Is there a way to do it? Of course there is! Listen up, I tell you how to win in this hard situation. First, give your carebears a choice – stay in new alliance or apply to a corporation in Shadows. Second, transfer to that corp all your systems and stations and stuff. Third, get finally those blasted blue standings from your allies. Voila! Your enemies (Solar fleet and Co in our case) find themselves living in an NPC space – you can dock in almost all stations, use JB network and you have your carebears fuelling your war expenses. Quickly – grab your SB and BO and start the mayhem.
The most notable results of this tactics:
KILLMAIL (of course, he got all that stuff from selling PLEX’es, two others machariels manage to escape)
KILLMAIL (this corp of 5 persons loses three or four carriers in a single week)
KILLMAIL (do not mine with neutrals present in local)
There is also countless ravens, machariels, carriers and tengus… All that costs 80+ billions, not counting destroyed implants. And all that fun can cost you just 18 billions. Note, that most victims are carebears from Solar wing.
The only person that could stop this madness at any time is MACTEP, leader of Solar fleet. No value sent up to four requests for ceasefire and got either nothing or hidden insults. Now, when carebears from Solar wing got very angry, MACTEP has to do something. And instead of diplomatic talks he chooses to reset Shadow of death. The Solar fleet enters No Value Staging system – 4AZV-W – and reinforces the outpost and iHUB (they belong to Shadow’s corp – remember that No value had transferred carebearing characters back to Shadow?) Legion of Death is given an ultimatum – drive No value out of droneregions, or there will be something bad.
This leads us to current situation.
As you can see, no goons are involved, the role of IRC is overestimated and this fuss is purely internal Droneregions affair.
There are many question yet: What if Neocortex Industries enters Legion of Death? (riverini’s note: they did a few hours ago). What will SOLAR FLEET do in this case? Challenge Legion of xXDeathXx or plainly shut up? Do they have the balls to start a war? Do they have a chance to win?
we do just don’t know yet.
Sincerely yours -
Beholder
