Long called the single most worthless region of New Even, Providence is the perfect analogy to Jerusalem. It’s a land with no native resources or wealth whatsoever, yet it’s fiercely fought over by anyone willing to throw ships and men into it. After the release of Crucible, Providence is definitely our biggest candidate for the host region of the next North versus South conflicts. Providence is a region were no-one is safe as shown by the capture of Chribba’s Cottage UNITY station at the 9UY4-H solar system nearly a week and a half ago by Test Alliance Please Ignore.
Days of Our Lives – Providence.
Last weekend, two Providence Sov holders (Broken Toys [FUHDR] and IrrelevantDOT [WHO]) started making a bit of a ruckus in northern Providence. Toys was rumored to have banded together with Ushra’Khan for an assault on the STEEL Brotherhood [FE3C] system of KA6D-K, which is located in the neighboring Catch region. It is amusing to note that STEEL happen to share blue standings with Curatores Veritatis Alliance, who are a sworn enemy of Ushra’Khan. Whether that’s a coincidence or not, this action soured relations between Broken Toys and CVA, resulting in CVA ousting Broken Toys from their intel channels.
Naturally, a power struggle began within the fragile Providence political bloc. CVA started trying to maintain their former role as Providence rule maker, throwing talk about “rules of engagement” at their allies. IrrelevantDOT accused CVA of “bossiness”.
CVA didn’t take being called bossy to well – they have announced that IrrelevantDOT has a week to leave before being set Kill on Sight by CVA and company. Oh the irony.
Analysis – Brown or Green Water Navy?
It’s still unknown if Curatores Veritatis Alliance will be able to exert some control over IrrelevantDOT, who could easily call for backup from anti-CVA entities such as Ushra’Khan.
In the last 6 months, Curatores Veritatis Alliance has done a good job trying to restore their former empire’s glory. A glance at the Providence sovereignty map shows them holding half of the region. Now is the time when their influence (rather than their wallets) could be put to the test. It is no secret that none of the residents want an all-out sov war in Providence, especially with the Pandemic Legion opportunists just a cyno jump away from their region. But CVA’s allies are certainly keeping a watchful eye on how CVA responds to IrrelevantDOT.
If CVA chooses to go easy on an insurrectionist alliance (which may or may not have backup from outsiders) then they may see how far CVA can be pushed.
