The last time I happened to see a CCP employee on the grid was during the LXQ2-T siege, CCP Atlas follishly jumped into a gate camped by over 300 Northern Coalition members, of course he was popped and sent home via the pod-express at an almost frightening speed. The thing is these sort of opportunities rarely appear for fellow capsuleers, to duke-it-out against devs and show the CCP one-percenters how shit rolls in the hard-lands is a juicy killmail few would reject.

So it came as a pleasant surprise to hot shot pilots when a group of CCP devs publicly announced their intentions to take a joy ride around Caldari space using some pretty pimped ships, the inevitable happened at the Tama solar system of the Citadel region.

Battle Report: Shit gets real as CCP fleet gets wasted by tough Internet Spaceship warriors.

If you happen to follow us on twitter, we re-tweeted an hilarious piece originally posted by @myronik, in case you missed it, here you have it:

I mention this because the outcome of this poignant proposal was long foreseen by capsuleers eager to beat the CCP developer fleet to a pulp and it didn’t took long, here is a view from pilot Achaiah7 regarding the events which transpired this fateful afternoon, again we salute him for sending this awesome battle report:

Epic CCP Battle gets Epic

So this was quite unexpected but great fun. After the announcement came out that CCP was going to do a fleet, I was hoping I’d get in on the action somehow. Problem is, it’s hard to organize a bunch of random people from NPC corps to do anything, let alone fight a well-organized CCP menace. So someone started a channel going where people could idle and watch for intel. Unfortunately pretty much everyone was in Jita so really no intel to speak of (CCP helped us out there later, really appreciated that!). Time went by, people were bored. Since nobody had any idea when CCP would move out, small fleets (10-15) would form and break apart. Finally, as we got a bit more wind of CCP forming up, our own fleet of misfits began to grow.

We got a bit more organized and at least had separate wings going for shield & armor but only 1-2 logis. We were going to die fast I myself was in a covops, organizing safespots for people to gather in and hoping to do intel once the CCP fleet got moving. Most of us were in Jita at that time and the fleet grew to maybe 60 people ranging from rifters to BS with a few expensive ships sprinkled in (we had a Hyperion and a Proteus).

Quite frankly, I wasn’t expecting much out of our little fleet. Not only because CCP devs were bound to fly something much fancier and be better organized but also because they could have started anywhere in null-sec so our chances of getting there in time were slim. We’d probably be ganked just getting there Anyway, just as CCP was going to move out Jita crashed, everyone re-logged in and general chaos ensued with multiple people creating fleets so what little numbers we had got spread out into fleets of 20-30. Then we got the EVE reboot. Jeez, CCP really knows how to put a damper on the whole deal. I thought we wouldn’t even have a chance.

But fate turned majorly toward us as everyone started logging back in. One fleet was created and moved to New Caldari and our numbers grew rapidly with people anticipating the CCP invasion to be imminent. Then someone mentioned livefeed. Oh thank you CCP that you allowed us get that intel… that made our day! I was one of the lucky ones to get onto the feed before it reached max capacity. As CCP broadcast started my eyes widened… Navy Geddons, Domis, Ravens, Machs,
Nightmares … geeeeez! Then I started paying attention to the screen info.

“They’re in Asakai! Wait, wait…they have a desti. Destination is Tama.”

That’s only 4 jumps out of Jita… we were getting to fight CCP after all. And not only that, we were likely to be the First! I remember myself screaming: “Guys get to Tama now! Get to optimal on gate!! This is the best chance we’ll have. Go go go!!” as I burned toward Tama myself in my manti. CCP fleet was taking its time, pausing in Okkamon to redock for some reason while I burned to their system. Within a few minutes I had eyes on their fleet as our own was heading to Nourvakaiken. Just as CCP jumped into Kedama (1 jump away from Tama), our fleet got into Tama and burned toward Kedama gate.

“They’re jumping, they’re jumping…. here they come.”

I was yelling on coms as I myself jumped back into Tama and held cloak.

CCP ships decloaked and all hell broke loose. Even now I’m still surprised about our fleet’s comms discipline (we were using Eve-voice) given that probably half of our fleet have never been in a large fleet fight before Primaries were called and actually followed for the most part. Some random shooting ensued. I followed primaries for the
first 3-4 CCP ships that went down before being primaried myself and popped. But before I died, I was able to take a look at the loot dropped by one the of the CCP ships. Omg… PLEX, clothing items, some nice mods. A few of our fleet members got a bunch of PLEX but most focused on the fight itself. I wasn’t lucky enough to get
anything but lots of looters in random rifters and ibises were prowling on the field while we were exchanging blows with CCP. The fight was raging on long enough for me to burn to Jita and reship into a cane. While I was doing that someone had a good suggestion to primary a few shield-tanked BSs first. Nightmares and ravens melted
as the rest of the CCP fleet was armor tanked. The slug-fest was a lot of fun, but CCP was winning (not surprisingly) and we had to pull back while everyone reshipped. We lost about half of our fleet with people leaving after the first engagement so only 50 were ready to get back into the fray.

Suddenly cynoes opened up and the big alliances started pouring in. Local swelled from 200 to almost 600 in an instant but lag was manageable. As expected, big guns from Raiden, Pandemic Legion and Co. arrived and the rest of the fight wasn’t much fun. 4-5 Avatars and other titans cynoed in and started popping everything in
sight. I got popped and podded back to a station while CCP was getting wiped off the map by the still-overpowered supers.

Overall, the initial engagement was definitely lots of fun. Thanks CCP for allowing a ragtag bunch of guys to be the first to engage and have a great time before the big alliances came with their wtfpwnmobiles and I-Win buttons. If you do it again, I would not change a thing. The only regret I have is that we did not get much loot from the whole engagement. Most of it was taken by random wankers in rifters while we were shotting CCP and later by Raiden &
Co. as they held the field.

Good fights were had by all!

“scope breaking news: ccp heavy combat fleet detected leaving polaris
reported by CCP Navigator | 2011.11.22 17:32:33 | NEW
Scope news have reported that a CCP heavy combat fleet was detected leaving the Polaris system at roughly 17:00 UTC today. The destination of the fleet is unknown at this time but fragmented communication picked up on channels indicates that the fleet are on exercise maneuvers which will involve direct combat with capsuleers. It is believed that this is an initial training exercise for a much larger operation coming up later in the year. Scope would advise all capsuleers to be on high alert over the next 24 hours, especially in low security and null security areas in which CONCORD do not operate.

It is unknown at this stage of the exact time of the impending Incursion. Pilots are advised to keep a close eye on unusual activity in the local channels.”

Next, they fleet up and let us take shots at them??
Why the fuck couldn't we do this instead of shooting shitty monuments in Jita and Amarr? Much better!

        1. 2 or 3 times a year tops and keep it random with only 1 days warning at the most. This way the event stays fresh. I like the idea of dropping goodies on the capsuleers when they explode and hope they do nothing to stop the ninjalooters. Keeps the event fun but it is still an EVE event.

It may be because I was focused on killing primaries rather than looting like the shmucks in their rifters/ibises did Besides, by the time cleanup commenced we were not on the field and kms were only starting to trickle in. But yeah, I'm sad to see that, predictably, all loot ended up in big alliances that didn't really need it anyway and the little guy on the field got shorted.

      1. Widdershins

Yes. It wouldn't bother me NEARLY so much if they had been carrying the obviously intended 800 million to 1 billion; instead, they were carrying anywhere between 800 million and 31 billion isk, mostly in high-faction ammo.

A little misinformed or unobservant. Goons and co and NC. jumped in at about the same time. Goons were in ?maels? and hurricanes and NC. was in abbadons. Raiden. was never there. After most of ccp had already died and after NC. had jumped out PL hotdropped titans and supercarriers and made short work of the rest. Was fun for everyone and I am sure the Pl titans had fun shooting the guys nerfing their favorite toys (which they can still do after the patch so don't feel too happy they were bs after all and a titan will still track them).

      November 24, 2011 at 4:00 am Reply
      1. Ach

True. Goons, PL and NC. all arrived basically at the same time so in the ensuing chaos/lag it was hard to tell what was going down. I think I saw some TNT and FA in there too. In all we had several hundred ships on grid and almost 600 in local. I would have taken a better look but some goons decided that popping/podding me was more important than primarying CCP so I got the quick trip home.

Awesome by CCP to do a event like this! But its interesting how all the fun died when PL and NCdot not even this time could stop them self from jumping in their big toys and end everything in 2 mins. I say remove the titans and supers from their combat role. Use the super carrier as a mobile station and the titan as mobile jump bridge and maybe add some more roles for it .

Then add new classes of battleships(maybe t3s) and capitals that isn't a super weapon. This will give the older players something new to train and master. Adding these super weapons to the game was a big mistake.

You are dumb. For starters NC. was in subcapitals. Secondly if by some total lapse in judgement ccp did that then they better damn well reimburse all the sp and time/money put into obtaining the ships and allow them to dock the ships so that they can rot in station instead of taking up an account. Supers should decimate other capitals in equal numbers and reinforce things easily. A gimped tank tracking titan should own battleships since a battleship fully set to tracking with little tank can hit rifters and one shot them.

Quotations are used to quote something, ie me quoting the "ruining" of the event that people are whining about it. Personally, I thought PL's hotdrop was hilarious.

And I live in nullsec, douchebag, am a vet of the last great war where supers were really never used in fleet vs. fleet engagements(Casserol vs Init, DT, C02 etc. to help you out as I believe you are a nub), and was present in system when the record for most people in a null sec system was set(LXQ2). Tl;dr You're an idiot, and go back to being bad.

Find out they're 4 jumps away, head there with the highsec fleet and got into the initial fight in my frigate. Got popped by a Nightmare, went back, refitted and took an interceptor.

Had last blow on a Guardian too after fleet reformed.

Looting PLEXes would've been nice but it was the PEWPEW that was fun. Plus I get to pad the alliance KB with CCP kills. =D

Why should this be an unusual thing ? CCP as the developers of the game SHOULD BE playing the damn game and getting a real pilots view of how their machine is actually working. This has been a long time bitch of mine, that CCP, much like politicians and their contituents, are much too removed from the real game out on the field and out in space, and have a very diluted and skewed view of the mechanics whats working and what isn't.. Most of their information comes from second and third parties such as CSA's which are very biasly chosen and coddled Are you kidding me CCP, your getting your cues from Mittani and Goonswarm Federation ? Are you nuts ? Are you completely out or you mind nuts ? Get in a damn ship head out to null and try to holding sov, try dealing with some of these overpowered, I-Win, supercap alliances with unlimited botting ISK. CCP this is about the ONLY thing you have done right in the last 3 years I've been playing, and its about damn time you had a clue and took this direction. Maybe now you will actually understand wtf is going on in your game, which I might mention has dropped from about 60k peak time players to about 40k. In my opinion you need to start a CCP alliance and play ingame on a regular basis, become the CCP version of Pandemic Legion. Set them to red, and whenever they pop up to totally screw the natural intended game mechanics of real players with meta-gaming, hotdrop them and stuff theirown sh*** back down their throats, because seriously the people you are coddling to are the ones that are screwing the game and losing your subscribers, maybe now if you actually play down in the trenches you will finally see how. And ffs DO NOT get your cue's from Mittani, wtf is wrong with you ?
