After receiving this email 24 hours ago, I held it up and classified it as a troll in kugutsumen.com foreplay; which is where a some of our intel gets validated. I refused to believe this email was real, but evidence and confirmation came from several sources, including agents with very close ties with CCP. Up until that point I refused to believe it’s veracity, but it seems now that shit has in fact hit the fan.

After reading the CCP Zulu release, we broke down as we became aware of the similar direction between the CCP DevLog and this “leaked email”. We decided to calm down and post this after heavily consulting advisors, ex-game developers, and well informed EVE online players.

The emai,l to which we hold no authorship, editing, nor claim it to be factual since we at EN24 are still in denial/shock, even a day after. We are assured that the writing style is that of “Hilmar”. No-one other than the original source of our leak referred to the newsletter as ‘fearless’, and the content of the email certainly goes inline with the poorly received DevBlog message CCP Zulu expressed.

We do not claim the veracity of this email. It came to us via a Drop Box (just as the newsletter),but we didn’t publish it immediately out of the respect we feel for CCP games. However, the evidence has been mounting all day as we kept digging around and other clues have been popping up constantly. Keep in mind that maybe Eve News24, by posting this, is being a peon to the well planned machinations of people wanting to destroy CCP.

Having said all this, here’s the email in its entirety. Read it and make your own conclusions.

We live in interesting times; in fact CCP is the kind of company that if things get repetitive we instinctively crank it up a notch. That, we certainly have done this week. First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember.

But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality one can apply to virtual worlds with the beautiful Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to make virtual reality more meaningful than real life when it comes to launching our new virtual goods currency, Aurum.

Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.

This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.

We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected.

All that said, I couldn’t be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before.

(end)

I love CCP. The work they do is great! It is not a perfect product, but they are not quitters. Yes, there are some things that need to be fixed, but they will be done sooner or later.

I have read all the comments here and including the alleged CCP e-mail. Assuming that the e-mail is true it clearly shows that CCP has their business concept BACKWARDS. Like in the previous comments in here it would be in the best interest that CCP put the consumer first because "we" are the reason Eve is Online and not "Eve Out of Business". We all understand that the creators of the game need to make money, but judging from that e-mail it seems like they have forgotten where the money they are making is coming from.
"I can tell you this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say." – CCP Hilmar. Remember, we only do what we do because CCP says everything else we petition can not be done. We could do more and achieve more if we were not limited to only what can be done and actually have the option of being able to do what we envision. So for every player that has expressed their opinions now know for sure what they already feel when their voices have not been heard. My quote of CCP Hilmar's comment above is a clear statement of what we already know. We know CCP do not put our concerns at the top of the list and most of us veteran players have felt this treatment by the creators of Eve Online. It's $$$$$ on the top of the list which I have express that the $$$$$$ they are making comes from our pockets. I have been playing since 2006 and like most of you I too have multiple accounts. You as a player can make a change in game like Chribba. What you do still makes an impact. You can play the game as what CCP says they meant Eve Online to be or be remember as someone who "defied the Gods" no matter what the outcome will be. Make a difference! Make a change! Do not let CCP get richer if they do not remember who they get their money from.

I've read through the comments and I've noticed something weird. People keep ranting about how EVE is giving richer people the leg up on the poorer people and how this will soon be a buy-to-win game. Only problem is, so far there is no point that any of the CCP announcement, leaked or otherwise, have shown any tendency toward this. If someone wants to pay $60 for a monocle, then let them, it's not going to change anything in the game. If someone wants to spend 1 billion ISK for that monocle in the game, then again, let them, that's ISK that they've earned on their own. If you think the prices are ridiculous and stupid, as I'm getting the impression that most of you are, then don't buy them. In this case, actions really do speak louder than words, just like Hilmar said. If we rant and rail against it all day, but end up buying the extra products anyway, then we've told them that we're willing to pay for it, even if we do complain the whole time. It's like the prices of gas going up. People complain and rant, but at the end of the day, they still buy gas to power their fuel guzzling SUVs and pickup trucks.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't like the price, don't buy them. If too few people buy them, then CCP won't get money from it and they won't pursue that idea anymore. If they're going to watch what we do instead of listening to what we say, then all of our talk and ranting and protests are useless and we should just not buy anything extra from them. Just pay our subs and go on as we did before, completely ignoring the new NEX system. After a few months of running it without any profits, they might just realize that we don't want it, we don't care about it, and we won't fund it, so work on something else that we actually do care about. It's a crazy idea, but if we hit them in their wallets, it just might get the message across.

All those memories, all those friends… there will never be another game of their kind… EVE was the last one standing, the final pillar standing tall above the ruins of the great cathedrals that came before it. A symbol of hope and perseverance to all that showed the people of the land that yes… yes there is still some good left in the hearts of men. We underestimated the persistence of our enemy and the end has now arrived, like its forefathers and the legends it once walked with EVE too shall fall.

It will not go quietly into the night, EVE will go out with a Bang.

    Sensationalised journalism at its worse.
First you post an internal document (missing the most important part the disclaimer basically saying this is personal opinions and ideas not company policy an off the wall document to discuss extreme ideas).

Now you post an email which actually makes sense and highlight a simple truth.
"I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say."
Which is exactly what ccp should be doing but let me explain it for those going into fake shock and melt down:
People forget that all the changes bought about by the NGE in SWG were voiced and wanted by a vocal minority on the forums.

So ccp is doing this to its players
"waaa waaa waaa I hate change I hate what you do I gona leave!!" ccp has no need to listen to this
players actually unsubscribing Vs people actually still in game enjoying the change THAT is what they will be judging incarna on and anyone with any kind of brain would realise that.

OMG it makes sense OMFG its obvious but all of you seem to instead be running around like headless chickens.

As we all should know what a person wants is not usually what a person needs.

I'm guessing CCP has determined that the limited number of typical hardcore Eve players no longer supports desired growth/profit trajectory and would rather migrate to a more WOW type subscriber base. This allows the transition to occur on a less dramatic fashion.

I was under the impression that the "purchasing ammo, ships etc" was in reference to the AUR currency which will be used in Dust 514. I didn't think they were bringing that ability IN to EVE except for customizing characters.

I've been playing EVE (well.. subscribed lol) since early 2004 and I have over 100m SP's on my character. I rarely make a lot of ISK so generally people who played the game just a few months can make more isk than me if they feel like it. I get pretty bored of it. So the one thing that sets me apart is I have accumulated a lot of ships/equipment and obviously huge amount of SP's. If you're telling me someone who starts tomorrow will be able to get to my playing level by PAYING for it – then you can consider me fucking off to something like Knight of the Republic when it comes out. That'd be a 7 year customer ignored all for the sake of a brand new one that may… or may not be that interested in the game 7 years down the line.

    Talk about customer appreciation.

Ok. So someone pulled aside the veil. They are a business. Consider that u dont know the price on a car. U work the dealer down a few thousand. He acts butt hurt and u drive away with "a steal." He is happy bc he sold a car with several thousand profit margin but u didnt know that, until someone in the car business informs you. Did you think the dealer was your pal? Do companies make exactly the product their consumers tell them to make??

It's a business. Now for the cash only items that give advantage…if ccp makes the high level implants cash only, I still dont see a problem. Some game income paradigms are built just on the cash only paradigms. And if ccp wants to leave their cashless playerbase behind, they will observe how the world market reacts. He is right. Action, and reaction drives success, not words. He is a dealer. He wants ur money. You can hold to your ford, bmw, or pinto loyalty, or walk off the lot.

I don't see anything wrong with the email. I assume the shitstorm is due to the statement that "I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say".

Well guess what, he's 100% correct! The only way your vote truly carries any weight is when you vote with your pocketbook. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you can't stand the fact that other people buy it, cancell your account.

Anytime you make a change, there are 15% of the people who will vehemently hate the idea, 15% that will love the same idea, and 70% that go with the flow. It is the law of averages and it just goes to show that when poll any sizeably population of folks they will not agree on ANYTHING 100%. Hilmar's statement doesn't mean they will be disregarding player feedback. It simply means they subscribe to the old adage that actions speak louder than words. And never forget, 50% of the world's population is below average intelligence .. by definition!
