Early this year, the Atlas alliance empire seemed as an unfathomable fortress, spanning several regions of the eve map, with vast territories and an equal amount of stations, supported with equally extense Render Base, the Atlas empire was one of the pillars of NullSec life in the south of New Eden.

For those who didn’t knew or just tuned in at EVE politics, like every great empire of man, the Atlas was destined to fall, it felt into stagnation and provided a stark reminder to all other Alliance CEOs of why is it important to maintain dynamism in an alliance day to day life.

At the earlier this year, Atlas was one of the members of the Southern Coalition, a temporary NAP that encompassed 75% of all NullSec life with the sole purpose of the destruction of the Northern Coalition who, after the Dominion patch, was sitting in EVE’s equivalent to to the largest gold, petroleum and diamond deposit all-together .

Fast forward a month later and the strains of a long distance deployment and a highly motivated enemy in combination with game mechanics that favored heavily on the defender, the great Atlas empire found itself packing up and returning to their home to re-tool themselves.

Yet things didn’t go well for Atlas once they settled back home, some of their renters started behaving in a rather rebellious way, there were talks of an upcoming Russian invasion and internal difference between the leadership didn’t help either. Folding was imminent.

The man at the helm of this vast and perilous empire was Bobby Atlas, a high profile figure in New Eden known for his ability to summon the will of his alliance members and even reach beyond the Atlas sphere of influence, Bobby was ousted/steeped down from Atlas leadership after differences in dubious circumstances and after the dissolution of the empire he helped to build, faded into obscurity.

Some might ask, now that the dust haz settled, what has become of bobby atlas now? Well here is the first part of the interview:

——-

EN24: earth calling Bobby Atlas
Bobby Atlas: sup
EN24: a lot
EN24: how does it feel to had the universe turning around u bro?
Bobby Atlas: how do you mean
EN24: well, tbh, if SirMolle was the most influencial person of EVE last year, i believe it would be safe to asume that this is the year of Bobby right?
Bobby Atlas: that would be your opinion
Bobby Atlas: i haven’t really taken part in eve much since earlier in the year
Bobby Atlas: and when i have its been in short stints
EN24: would it be safe to say that the results of what been happening now was being foresighted by you?
Bobby Atlas: it wasnt an illusion what would likely happen with me stepping away from things
Bobby Atlas: and a lot of the good people that used to make Atlas leadership, all got a case of RL the last 8 months or so
Bobby Atlas: leaving very few people to fill needed roles
Bobby Atlas: and those that did decide to fill them, were pretty fucking terrible
EN24: so, within eve, did u never found a proper leader to take the reins in your opinion or being Atlas and Bobby a sort of symbiosis were one cannot exist without the other?
Bobby Atlas: Atlas was created and existed for quite some time
Bobby Atlas: without me leading it
Bobby Atlas: i was not the founder nor creator of the alliance
Bobby Atlas: despite opinion otherwise
Bobby Atlas: Solarknight of Origin Systems was the original leader and alliance founder
Bobby Atlas: and he lead the alliance for about a year and a half
EN24: same could be said about any empire, but again, you were the most influential member of it, for good and worst i would add.
EN24: now
EN24: there has been some rumors about real money trading being done behind all what happened, have you been aware of them?
Bobby Atlas: nope
Bobby Atlas: unless you mean about [WhiteNoise]
Bobby Atlas: being [Real Money Traders] fags
Bobby Atlas: but apart from that not really
EN24: what’s your opinion on the state of EVE at the moment?
Bobby Atlas: eve is … its hard to put a finger on it
Bobby Atlas: its just not where it should be after all these years
EN24: i see
EN24: would it be safe to blame mostly on the mechanics or just on the tactics (clean or dirty ones) used by players?
Bobby Atlas: bit of both would be a fair statement
EN24: your mind on the Russians? and what has been described by EVE analyst Pavel Kutcha as a new paradigm in which eve wars are player, basically paying others to fight your wars
EN24: basically the players are outraged because of the RMT connection involved
Bobby Atlas: eve has always had an element of mercs
Bobby Atlas: that hasn’t changed
Bobby Atlas: and probably won’t
Bobby Atlas: though the russians probably paid PL to some degree to get involved in the southern conflict, at the end of the day PL agenda to be in the south was already established and if they took payment to stay a little longer, that was simply convenient not really an indicator of a larger trend
Bobby Atlas: its not like PL showed up cause of the russians
Bobby Atlas: PL was there before
Bobby Atlas: as for players being outraged by RMT
Bobby Atlas: thats not something terribly new
Bobby Atlas: be it in the form of macroers, RMT trade spammers, RMT funding larger projects, alliances or groups
Bobby Atlas: its been in eve a long time
Bobby Atlas: most older players understand its there, its a sad part of eve and wont go away over night or anytime soon for that matter
EN24: ROL aluminum dude, etc..
EN24: speaking of RMT, while perusing around CAOD i came across this thread saying you made up to USD 15,000 out of this
Bobby Atlas: LOL, i wish i had $15k in spare change, i don’t even really know what to say about that, its just stupidness
EN24: i wish i had 15k too, &__&
Bobby Atlas: if i had 15k come to me all of a sudden
Bobby Atlas: the last thing id be doing right now
Bobby Atlas: is sitting at the computer
Bobby Atlas: id take some built up vacation time in a heart beat
EN24: don’t answer if you don’t want to, how old is bobby?
Bobby Atlas: id rather not get into personal details, I’m in my late 20′s
EN24: Let’s talk about your most praised quality, Charisma, personally i have been a long-time NC fanboi, but still far up in the north, one cannot help to ignore what some members have called a “Engaging Persona” from Bobby Atlas, which makes interesting to learn about, since Motivation and Trust are the most valuable assets on eve and is it hard to find a leader than apart from having both, is able to transmit that…
Bobby Atlas: as for my personality, it is what it is, all I’ve ever tried to do is represent the membership, avoid any fashion of politics and be transparent and honest
Bobby Atlas: despite what others on the outside might indicate
Bobby Atlas: Atlas was very transparent
Bobby Atlas: i never shied away from realities of situations to members, always told members like it is and generally when your honest with people they respect that and return that respect
Bobby Atlas: and at the end of the day I’ve always been willing to do the very same things i ask of people
Bobby Atlas: be it setup POS’s, show up for alarm clocks for weeks on end, due grunt logistics, you name it
Bobby Atlas: sure to some i might have come off as a dictator or control freak, but that could be further from the truth
Bobby Atlas: in fact, allot of the day to day operations of Atlas are credited over the years to other people
Bobby Atlas: even right up to my last periods of activity before things got handed off
Bobby Atlas: the problem was when i stepped away from ATLAS, a number of other people did too
Bobby Atlas: including those people who ran the day to day stuff
EN24: i feel you there…
EN24: But do u intend to keep playing EVE?
Bobby Atlas: not in any serious capacity for awhile, no
EN24: how many obligatory “Can i have your stuff” emails had u recieved? ^__^
Bobby Atlas: wouldn’t know last time i logged
Bobby Atlas: i mass deleted everything
EN24: i would too. =__=

What is the point of this? All i got from it is that Bobby is in his late 20′s.

Nice change from the normal propaganda, but this is just pointless and has no info in it what so ever.

Fuuuu, people, you are strange. If you do not like, let’s say, wall street journal or NY times, you do not read it, you do not try to report you opinion to journal.
But EN24 is another story. There is no article without posts with the same whine – “it is propaganda”, “it is obvious”, “it is not interesting”, “I already know it”.
Stop whining, do writing!!! (I’m whining on whining). I fed up with the same post. Oh, idea, I want to be moderator

It’s a bio piece about a relative player who’s successes and failures are still shaping the map. WTF do you people REALLY want outta a new site anyway? I personally want a feature where I can ban useless people from comments.

That interview was a bore to read. Didn’t really learn much, and what I did learn was kinda boring.

Couldn’t tell you what would have made it better, other then maybe next time have the subject do the entire interview as Jar Jar Binks.

Eve was probably too hard a game to play, especially over this last year.. Must be hard work nowadays in New Eden, since we could warp to a gate @ 0, weapon grouping went live, skill queues arrived, the upcoming removal of Learning Skills.. I could go on…

WoW. The only thing on the planet more boring than either cricket or watching paint dry.

  6. Lol Imo Bobby Atlas is just one of those very charismatic leaders that will echo into new eden hall of fame. Not because of being a great fc(mediocre at best), not for being a great diplomat (lool). But for having a weird way of telling members to go fuck themselves and they would still “love” him.

That douchecanoe made former Atlas members vaginas tingle.

Ok… So the point of this interview so far is that BobbyAtlas thinks that EVE sucks and he won’t come back? Cool.

See my above comment about Eve now being too hard to play, and as such he had to downgrade to WarCrack. Cackaclysm comes out in nearly a week, best to buy him some Kleenex for Xmas so he can clean himself up.

Whats wrong with this interview? Boby Atlas was and for some/older players still is sound name. As we have leaders in RL, so we have them in EVE and Boby is one of them. It is like doing interview with Napoleon after loosing the Waterloo battle. Its part of EVE history and if he is loved or hated, he has his place in it. I wasnt in EVE when Atlas was on the top of alliance chart but it is interesting. Rise and fall of whole empire. I give thumb up for this interview and will definitly read 2nd part of it.

Yeah, ofc Atlas alliance is a nice piece of Eve history and Bobby as it’s leader might be quite an interesting figure… But the interview is boring, that’s the problem. Maybe the second part will be better, so far there’s not even one piece of information/thought I find new or interesting, it’s not even worth reading… :]

I agree with you in that Bobby Atlas is definitely a person of interest… however, reading the interview, he just comes across as so very uninteresting. He just seems bitter, humorless and stand-offish, as if he is doing the chat against his wishes. Maybe when leading he was more interesting, but going by the 1st part of the interview alone, well, accountants have more personality than him. He is kinda a huge let down. Hopefully part 2 is more interesting. Riverini, perhaps some teasers for part 2 might help? ie, “Catch part 2 tomorrow as Bobby discusses xxxxx”

I’m not sure how dyslexia comes into play here. If one wants to write, that’s great. But, in order for a writer to be taken seriously, to have the reader understand your message in the proper context, and to at least represent yourself as having a modicum of intelligence, the writer should at least attempt to write professionally. But by all means, continue with your ad hominem attack on my comment. I don’t mind, I’ll still smile and wave at you when I pick up my order at the McDonald’s drive-thru.

my point is that unless ur dyslexic you have no problem understanding an article with poor grammar and a few typo’s
So while it would be nice to have correct grammar its not as important as the article content and not as such detrimental to the story.

I should say the same for you. Dyslexia has nothing to do with grammar and diction.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree, I have no desire to swap insults.

CAOD = thataway. I hope that if you ever try to learn a foreign language, that the native speakers of that tongue are an utter cunt to you – but oh no, you’ll just be able to hide behind the safety blanket of “it 2nd language”. You sir, should be more patient and hang your head in shame.

  25. [...] So a offer was made to Atlas I actually hosted the meeting. Nync and Psychoo asked Bobby Atlas to give up Insmother and Wicked Creek. For this there would be no war and White Noise would become a ally. The deal breaker however was that Red Alliance got a region. Now there is nothing more in Eve Bobby Atlas hates other than Red Alliance. Bobby went apeshit crazy on teamspeak and started screaming ” Fuck them motherfuckers Im not giving them shit . Ill quit my job and live off welfare and goverment cheese and stomp there ass in the ground im not giving them shit”. At this point my jaw was on the ground knowing that Bobby had just signed us up for a war with A newly united RMT coalition. Fuck me ” welp bobby I gave you my word -A- and Atlas will stick together” I said. The next day I made a CAOD announcement with a Youtube video link to rightsaidfred ” your my mate”. Interview with Bobby Atlas can be found on our site – http://www.evenews24.com/2010/12/02/the-enigmatic-mystique-of-bobby-atlas/ [...]
